Not Much Information, Buy "Flathead Fever 2" Instead
This book is pretty basic with little to no new information.... I returned mine! I recommend buying the "Flathead Fever 2" book instead which includes most of the information from this book plus a lot more.

Data vs. Information
One of the things I learned in my 40 year technical career is that there is a big difference between data and useful information. This book reminded me of too many Power Point presentations I sat through by very intelligent but inexperienced engineers who were self consumed by their testing methods and the data that flows forth. In many of those meetings it was hard not to scream "what's your conclusion?" or "what is your recommendation?" These presentations in my past like this book provided an abundance of very studious looking tables of data, some interesting pictures but without much useable conclusions or recommendations. The nadir of this book was one color page with 2 photos of the Stromberg 97 carb and 2of the Holley 94. Really? For the readers who likes to ponder lots of data and form their own conclusions, this may be a helpful book. For others looking for rebuild recommendations you will need to look elsewhere.

Four Stars
There is some good info in this book, not so generic as most of the other books are.

carbs, fuel injection and ignition for your flathead
There are three books in this series and should be considered a set as they compliment each other (Flathead fever, Street flathead, Flathead tuning). These books are not for the beginner, you will not find basic engine rebuilding here, there are plenty of books available this subject. These books are strictly flathead/sidevalve v8 specific.Mike Davidson provides all the latest information you'll need to build a flathead for street or the salt flat with the facts and figures to back up all his suggestions,no myths here.

Poor Value for money
I thought it was an overpriced catlogue for the authors products, I learnt little from the book.
