8 miles, no chafing!
I have an oversized "throwback" Pomeranian who loves to run with me. Underneath all his fluff, he is a lanky, thin, athletic 15 lb. He loves to run with me, but his step in harness chafed his armpit area. Seeing the good reviews on this harness in regards to preventing chafing in active dogs, I decided to give it a try.I ordered the XS based on the size chart... his girth measurement was in the middle of the range given. When it arrived, it was a little larger than I expected, and I had to adjust it to the smallest setting to fit him properly. It's possible the XXS may have been a better fit for him, but I decided to keep the XS and give it a try.Security? No part of the harness has any stretch to it -- in the product image, the front part looks like it might be elastic, but it is actually a sturdy non-stretch fabric with reflective strips. The non-stretch factor makes it a very secure harness. And for double security and maximum adjustability, the girth closes by velcro followed by a buckle attachment over the top. I am sure that a determined dog could figure out a way to back out of it, especially if the fit is too loose, but no such attempt was made by my dog. He spooks easily when we are running, especially if we're near a road and a car comes up behind us. He bolts behind me and I have to pull him forward. He did this multiple times while we were running, and the harness stayed secure as I pulled him forward. I use a coupler to attach the harness to the collar as a safety measure so that if he does back out of the harness, he is still attached to the leash by his collar. I recommend this extra precaution for any dog who bolts when frightened, especially if he will be walked near a busy road. But in this case, the harness stayed put very well.Chafing? The material is thicker than an average harness, but very slippery. The part that actually contacts the dog reminds me of the straps of a good quality back pack, made to comfortably slide against the skin. No sharp edges to scrape against his skin as his body moves. Additionally, the girth sits a couple inches behind his armpits, as opposed to his previous step-in harness that sat right against his armpits. We ran eight miles today, and I checked him carefully for chafing afterwards. No sign of chafing at all! He loves running so much, and I am so excited to have found a secure harness he can wear when he is on longer runs with me that doesn't cause him pain later.Ease of use? To be honest, this harness is easier to put on than a step in harness! You just slide it over the dog's head like a collar, then fasten the girth with velcro followed by the buckle. Great choice for squirmy, excitable dogs who are hard to get into other types of harnesses. It's also easy to adjust for a perfect fit. While not marketed as a no-pull harness, I think it also had a positive effect on his pulling. Nothing I have tried (including the Easy Walk harness) completely stops him from pulling when he's excited, but when wearing this harness today, he seemed to recognize when he was pulling and ease up more readily than usual.Overall, I am very satisfied with this harness. It might be more expensive than the step-in harness at Walmart, but it is well worth the extra money if you're looking for something sturdy and comfortable for your active dog. And it seems like it is built to last. I look forward to many more runs with my pup and his ComfortFlex harness!

Best harness for dog comfort; pros far outweigh cons
I got this harness because our old nylon one was rubbing my dog's fur off under her arms. Judging by her behavior, ComfortFlex has made her more comfortable on walks. She happily cranes her neck into this harness (she never *wanted* to put any other harness on) and she is also more relaxed and less reactive on walks. The harness's construction is very sturdy, and I don't doubt its strength. The padded lining runs the entire length of the harness, including under the buckle. There are no rough/exposed edges against the dog. The lining is made of smooth material, not fuzzy/fleecy material, so it handles dirt well. The reflective strips along the front strap light up bright in the beam of a flashlight or car headlights. The front strap stays across my dog's chest at the correct level regardless of leash tension--never high enough to choke her, and never low enough to restrict movement.Pros: - dog's comfort--no chafing, no restricting normal leg movement - dog's safety--secure design, no choking - sturdy construction - reflective material built in - padded - harness cannot loosen with pullingCons: - harness tends to rotate to the side while walking (but it does not seem to bother my dog) - Not for use with retractable leashes. The low-level tension of a retractable leash will make the leash attachment ring (which is rather heavy) bounce down on the dog's back with every step. It would be enough to bruise a short coated dog after a long walk. - the leash attachment strap and ring are awkward in general, hanging loose like they do. Better with lightweight leashes. - the front chest strap is rather short. The medium's front strap is just barely long enough for my 39 lb, 26" girth houndmutt, so it might be too tight on a dog with a deeper chest. If your dog is in between sizes or at the upper range of a size, consider choosing the larger size for comfort.

Great for the agility dog
I do a lot of NADAC agility with my large Malinois and needed a different harness to use that I could quickly put on and take off. We've encouraged play with the leash (completely acceptable in AKC agility) but it's not allowed in NADAC. Initially I'd been using our Gentle Leader body harness to take him in and out of the ring and he doesn't tug on his obedience leather leash, but I kept on pinching him in the armpit by accident. It was a choice between this and the Julius K9. This was ready and available through Amazon, and the price was right so it won out.The fit is great, no problems. I measured my dog, the site said he needed a Large, I got him a Large and it works just fine. It has a pair of velcro interlocking straps that connect to one side of the chest. You connect those and the buckle clip connects over the top of that. This was ideal and eliminates the risk of my 'clipping' my dog. It is also a lot easier to get on and off than my Gentle Leader. I will not be using it to replace my Gentle Leader for regular walks. A wrigley dog could back out of this harness with enough effort. It is soft on the body and well made.

Adjustable and very easy to put on
Outstanding harnesses for our two dogs (pug and French bulldog). Adjustable and very easy to put on, they provide a lot of support without putting any pressure on the dogs' necks. Extremely well-made and sturdy.

LOVE how easy it is to place on my dogs ...
LOVE how easy it is to place on my dogs - no fiddling - just snap and its on! The handle at the top is very handy for my older dog who has weak legs and needs help standing up sometimes and for our pup it is easy to grab and restrain him if necessary. They are very light weight and we find no rubbing occurs on the fur/skin for our most active dog. Love, Love, Love them!!
