Xing Yi 5 Elements Fists

Introduction to Xingyi an Internal Chinese Martial Art
This is an excellent DVD. Both Master Liang and Master Yang very cleary demonstrate each 5 element fist and some applications. After the 5 element fist, forms are presented. The beauty and precision of their demonstrated techniques provide an excellent reference for learning Xingyi. The DVD, with a lot of hard work and attention to detail can be used to learn Xingyi but would be greatly enhanced with instruction from a Master Instructor. For me, classes taken with these master instructors added additional material and insight. The importance of the the 3 body posture, Santishi stance is clearly presented as a basis for correctly learning and practicing each 5 element fist. This DVD provides an outstanding contribution to the Chinese martial arts for those interested in observing as well as those actively studying and practicing Xingyi, an internal martial art. An excellent introduction to Xingyi. Highly recommended.

RARE system
So far so good. Rare system that GM Liang Shou-Yu re-did.

A great introduction to The Five Elements and There Applications
As a great Xing Yi entusiast who have had the honor of seeing some really high level Xing Yi experts train in real life while living and training in China and training in Northern Europe I must say that this DVD is really a great gem. It takes any new student through the beginning process and even has some interesting details here and there for people with some experience and an open mind. One is introduced to the Xing Yi Wu Xing partner drill and even some more simple partner drills first as well. These partner drills teach and introduce short range combat aspects in a gentle and fun way that one can also expand and build further upon. I especially like how the Drilling Fist is taught and used here as it very much resembles what I have seen over the last 31 years. A straight slightly upward force that can if needed be used as a constant drilling that easily could turn into a semi bursting attack sequence. Another cool thing about how both the pi(splitting) and zuan(drilling) shown here is that packing and trapping are also shown. This is good for any new student to see as it quickly helps them see the ideas. There are too many awesome details in this great DVD to write down about here in this rather short space so I will just end it with saying that it is certainly worth having a look at for any level of Xing Yi Quan practitioner If one wishes to learn from more than one lineage and expand one's horizon.I shall admit that I am a huge fan of this family's Xing Yi Quan(and BA Gua Zhang) and I have bought all their DVDs over the years as I felt they took my understanding to much higher level form and technique wise. I got to see many new approaches and interpretations of various techniques. This DVD is in my honest opinion a great start for any new student who wish to train Xing Yi Quan.Happy training
