Astro 400E Smart Eraser Pad For Pinstripe Removal Tool

I needed to remove a very old and cracked full roof wrap. It had crazed into thousands of tiny fragments so was impossible to peel up. Tried several other eraser wheels including the finger type and 3M brand. This Astro wheel was the only one that actually worked on this application, and did not damage the paint. It takes a bit of getting used to, dialing in the right combo of speed and pressure but once you find what works it does a good job.

We use these at my work to take off 2 faced adhesive, decals and pin stripes. They work great at low speeds on a cordless drill. I was able to get these for a few bucks less than what our jobber sells them to us for.

I have used Astro Eraser wheels for 18 years as an auto painter to remove both large and small decals without any damage to painted surfaces. The exception is plastic bumpers and trim parts. Do not use on these items as the Astro Eraser wheel will melt the plastic. This is true of any eraser wheel brand. These tools will leave a pencil eraser type residue on painted surfaces which is easily removed with any automotive paint polish/cleaner. Use a buffing wheel or rag for this removal. The Astro Eraser was used by my shop becaause it was very inexpensive when compared to other brands and never fell apart like others that we tried early on.

As many reviewers note this requires and arbor to facilitate attaching it to a drill. I had a truck with 3M stainless finish rock guard applied. After a few door dings and a minor scrape down one side I had to remove it to do body work and repaint. 3M used some amazing adhesive it took many many hours and plastic razor blades to get it off. What was left was a black sticky backing material that would not come off. This Astro smart eraser product works really well. It leaves an eraser residue that wipes off easily. I had to remove 8 inch tall the length of the truck on both sides. Remember this is only 1\2 inch wide so that is all that is going to come off in one pass. In my case it took a while. The drill got hot, the eraser got hot. I had to stop and let the pad and drill cool off. No fault of the product, I just had a lot of material to take off. Some care needs to be taken to not run the pad too fast and get it too hot. White paint can yellow from too much heat. I was able to get yellow spots off with polishing compound. Would buy this again without hesitation to take off adhesive residue.

I bought a 1976 motorhome that has 3 stripe decals in good condition about 1.5" wide each going around the entire motorhome. A body shop owner friend of mine said they used these eraser pads to remove all kinds of decals from vehicles they repair. So I bought the astro pneumatic 400E Smart eraser pad and an arbor for my corded electric drill to remove the motor home striping. The first one did 22 feet of striping in about an hour. The paint underneath looks great. The operation is easy, the decal rubs off, the glue melts and gets caught in the eraser "dust". It is a bit messy with the eraser dust, but it sweeps right off the vehicle and is easy to hose off or sweep up. I bought 2 more wheels to finish the motorhome striping removal. Sanding or scraping off the decals would have taken hours to do and the motorhome would have needed to be fine sanded, primed and repainted. If you have a decal to remove from your vehicle, this is the tool to use. 5 stars for sure and the Astro Pneumatic 400E Smart Eraser Pad fully lives up to its claims. I was not disappointed and you won't be either.

I used this wheel to remove vinyl stripes off the fence paneling of a 35 year old pontoon boat. If there's a better way to remove old baked on vinyl I can't imagine what it would be. Once the wheel gets warmed up the vinyl came off relatively easy. Takes a bit of technique and getting used to. Definitely recommend you start at a lower RPM... my DeWalt drill on the fast setting got too hot and took some of the paint off in a spot before I learned my lesson, but that's user error. 44 feet of 3.5" wide striping took two wheels to complete the job. I also tried the notched version of this product but this solid one worked much better.

I bought 3 of these through Amazon Prime to remove faded and cracking vinyl pinstripes on our full-size van. They work as promised, removing stripes without harming the clear coat. Residue wipes off with wax & grease remover. I made an adapter to use the wheel with my variable speed electric rotary polisher. They recommend 4000 rpm, but I found the discs work well if you run a bit slower, probably 1500-2000 rpm. It's more controllable that way. There is a technique to it for sure. They are soft like an eraser, and you will have dust everywhere, but it sure beats trying to remove stubborn decals by scraping.BEWARE- if you have decals which are UNDER the clear coat, this will remove the clear along with the decals. Check first.I like these and will use them again if I need to remove decals or stripes.

You still need the spindle for this, but this is the tool you need to remove stickers from your car without damaging the paint. It goes through stickers, striping and decals like a champ, leaving a ton of eraser dust everywhere, but nothing else. (a little wax or polishing takes out anything that might be left)You eat these pads up quickly, however (which is to be expected when you've got something that isn't going to affect your paint). They're a huge time-saver, but buy two if you're trying to remove more than just a little bit of pinstriping.

Amazing tool for removing 20+ year graphics and pin striping from boat, It's slow going but beats sanding and peeling. Arrived in a day and a half and got to work immediately. Realized quickly that the job will require a few more discs. I was doubtful it would work and I was pleasantly amazed! Will recommend to everyone.

I removed side body moulding off my jeep Cherokee and this device erased the glue lines with minimal effort and didn't harm the paint, I just put it in my drill and at low speed worked it along the glue lines, thumbs up!

Took decals off 40 year old camper with lots of elbow grease, but cleaned up good.

Works very well, I used it to remove pinstripes from an old boat. Left a little glue residue but goo b gone took that off
