Usagi Yojimbo Saga Volume 3

Well he did it the first time so many years ago but upon rereading these stories I can definitely say [in my non-expert opinion] that Usagi Yojimbo is a timeless masterpiece...featuring plenty of Samurai Chanbara, Japanese culture, and Anthropomorphic characters Usagi Yojimbo Saga Volume 3 gathers the adventures of its titular character and hero Usagi. Featured prominently in this collection are two great story Arcs, Bloodmoon [think samurai and detective whodunit noir combined!] and Grass Cutter part II [the sequel to the award winning Grass Cutter story arc and a must read on its own alone!] as well as many other tales. Whether you are a new fan, or returning, this is definitely a must have pick up, all for the VALUE price of under $20!!

The Saga continues with 600+ pages of USAGI YOJIMBO stories collected from the very late 90s into the early 2000s. Amazing comics. Fun, fast-paced samurai action mixed with great characterization and meticulously researched information about the history and culture of Japan. I learn something almost every time I read a comic by Stan Sakai.

If you are considering buying this volume you probably already know how awesome the series is, and this review is pointless. It is an excellent book. Looks amazing on the bookshelf next to the Fantagraphics special edition collection and the other 5 Dark Horse editions. Huge book by the way.

My son (12 yrs) LOVES these books. They are huge and he often rereads them. Funny and action packed.

This book is a compilation of 3 long out of print Usagi Yojimbo books. If you are new to the samurai rabbit series or you don't have the books Demon Mask, Grasscutter II and The Shrouded Moon then all means consider this rating to be 5 stars. But if you already have the 3 books then there doesn't seem to be any new material.

Somewhat less impactful than Volume 2, but that is to be expected. Still, high quality art, consistent characterization and tastefully done with style and substance. Mr. Sakai has delivered wonderful work in a consistently entertaining manner.

Stan Sakai is a brilliant artist and story teller. These Usagi Yojimbo books are an excellent value.

My Grandson insisted I would love these books...he is right.
