INSTALLATION: The instructions have you route the cables from the rear tire mount through the air vent behind the tire. I recommend considering routing the cables via the blank grommet, also behind the rear tire. The instructions also have you connect to the power receptacle (cigarette lighter socket) cable by soldering the two together. Highly recommend getting the "Quadratec® JK-APT2011 12 Volt Power Adapter for 99-17 Jeep® Wrangler TJ, JK." This adapter gives a much better, cleaner installation without needing to solder or using vampire clamps. You simply insert the adapter between the power receptacle and it's plug. The is no need to go to the dealer to enable the rear camera feature because the kit comes with a convenient ODB2 plug that programs your compatible OEM radio.OPERATION: The camera has very sharp and clear display. However with increased darkness the camera does get increasingly grainy. Mine has the lane lines and markers. Each mark equates roughly to 1 foot of distance. The camera mount gives maximum mounting flexibility with its articulating camera mount. I am very pleased with this product.

I think I speak for every Jeep Wrangler owner when I say it's a pain in the butt to see out of the hard top when trying to reverse. The spare tire is in the way, the rear seat headrests are in the way, and even that blasted rear window wiper motor box is in the way. The problem is amplified when you've tinted it darker to kill some of the sunlight's harmful rays and to increase the security of valuables stored inside.That aside, this camera system makes it possible to see where you're actually going. It ties right into the factory touch-screen radio unit, and when they say plug and play, they mean it! It comes with all the wiring you need, and the programmer you need to teach your radio how to use the camera.The only splice you need to make is for power and ground. It's recommended you solder these into the 12v power port wires for the best connection. Scotch locks are junk and fail after time, so don't use those. Alternatively, you can run wires straight to your fuse box, but this requires more effort.The camera fits perfectly between my Rubicon's spare rim spokes. Another lesser-known fact is that the camera can be tilted up or down based on your personal preference. It includes the distance lines in the display picture so you know just how close you are getting to an object, but you can optionally disable those lines by connecting the pre-cut green wire on the provided harness.Backing up is now a million times easier. EVEN AT NIGHT. There are some reviews here that say the camera quality is too poor to see at night, but you can see in my pictures that's not the case. I even have LED reverse lights, which help illuminate my path for me. I recommend the Genessi LED reverse light upgrade for Wranglers in addition to this camera setup for the best results.

I purchased this BrandMotion camera for a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. I researched alternatives and settled on this because it seemed to provide a good reliable all-in-one packaged solution even though I knew I was paying a few hundred bucks for various parts that are probably worth less than $50 plus the plug-in computer device to avoid a trip to the dealer.As others have noted, this isn't an extremely difficult install if you know what you are doing - this means you have pulled a dash, interior parts and done wiring in a car recently. The last time I did that was to install an 8-Trak tape player in a 76 Camaro so I was pretty rusty and it took a good six hours for me to install the camera even though I'm pretty handy and had all the right tools. This involves a lot more than changing a tire or windshield wiper and you are going to have to tear your beloved Jeep apart and take some time to put it back together carefully so you don;t kick your self every morning. when you go to work.I give the product 2 stars because the camera itself seems to be junk. The picture is just plain lousy - and I don't mean compared to a digital TV. We also have a 2016 4Runner with a stock rear camera which I thought was lousy until I saw this one. In the day it is blurred and washed out in any light and in the night it is practically useless. I installed new LED back-up bulbs hoping that would help but negligible improvement.I called and emailed Brandmotion support who advised me to pull my dash again and make sure that two camera wires were fully inserted into the back of the nav/radio unit which took me another 90 minutes with no improvement whatsoever. My guess is that Brandmotion probably tells people to do that thinking they probably will never go to the trouble to find out it doesn't work.It ticks me off that the manufacturer won't spend another $25 or so to provide a decent camera given the negligible value of the materials for what they charge. would like to return the unit but have to find another couple of hours to pull everything out and put it back once again.My advice is to buy the wire harness and other basic parts you need plus a good camera which will cost hundreds less and have your dealer do the computer for around $100 or so. You will save hundreds and end up with a much better product. The other alternative is go to a custom auto store in your area that installs cameras. You'll probably pay close to a grand but you will save yourself lots of time and have someone to stand behind the product if it doesn't work.

Great product easy installation but very poor instructions. I went on u-tube and watched a installation video that was very easy to follow. You would think that at the price you pay for this item that the company include a professional install CDI’m not the only one to make mention of thisGaryCanada

Works great! Basic set up as well! Must have with a wrangler.UPDATE: My initial response is pretty false after a couple years of use. Every 6 months I have had to replace the unit because it keeps shorting out. Brand motion customer service is no help and passes the blame onto everyone else. I’ve gone through 3-4 units and again I’m left with a dead unit.

They had given some bad reviews. But in my case it works perfectly so far.

Very easy and straight forward to install and program. Works great and helps take care of the blind spots when backing up.
