RGRS Nintendo Game Boy Color Backlight Mod Kit with Glass Screen Lens [video game]

This display looks great in my custom GBC. It wasn't too difficult to install, but I would have liked some better instructions. The ones available are a bit tough to understand. It is a true plug and play screen so you don't have to be super skilled to use it. The product is great though and makes my older gameboy games look brand new.

I've been buying backlight mod kids for the GBC from RGRS for a while now. I have bought the original ones and these new ones with changeable color palettes. They all work great and RGRS gives you everything you need. I appreciate the included replacement screen lens since it frames the screen a lot better than the original stock screen. The spacers do need to be sanded a little to make a better fit. All, it's a great item and can make your old Game Boy Color relevant again after spending years in a box in your attic.

The screen is top notch quality. I elected to keep my Pikachu face plate over the provided one, so the light borders are visible but do not bother me. The instructions pictured in the item listing need to be updated with higher resolution, I had to search around for a bit to find better quality ones. I did have to split and file the spacers, so keep a nail file handy to smooth the surfaces. I do wish some additional double sided adhesive was included for securing the two sensor switches. I had some available fortunately, but would have been nice to have some extra included.

this improves your gameboy color to levels i never thought possible. The install is kind of fiddly, but if you follow the video on the seller's website, you'll be able to do the job (i just had to keep rewinding as they did the install kind of quick). Taking off my old lens was not as easy as just pushing it out, and I managed to crack the old lens (not a big deal because I was throwing it out anyway), and it caused some glassy bits to come out and i nicked my finger slightly. The spacers made aligning the screen a breeze, and i just used a file from an old swiss army knife to file off the little pieces that stay from breaking them apart. I also managed to somehow break off a small piece of plastic from the shell that is like this little rod piece that the dpad rubber latches onto, but everything still works fine. Be careful and take your time and you will have a very nice upgrade you can do yourself at home without having to pay someone to mod your handheld. Mine did not come with the needed triwing screwdriver, however I happened to have one lying around from a prior project. LLAP

I wouldve given this product a 5 star review but it came with no instructions or video to follow. Theres one at the sellers website but the product description doesnt show it or mention it. The install can be challenging but once you get the idea on how to connect and flip the screen is fun. Also I got a free triforce sticker .Awesome!

The screen works great. But this was supposed to be a drop in kit with no shell modifications. It started off, I received my kit. Then noticed it didn't have the glass lens and spacers included. No big deal. Contacted them a week later they came so I finally went to install the kit and realized that it doesn't fit at all. Contacted them again and they said I have to return it through Amazon and buy the correct one through their website. Next time I will go with another company that will send the correct kit the first time

Sure it is smaller than the original screen, but nothing beats how bright and colorful everything looks now. took a little more time to install than I would have thought since one ribbon cable kept coming out and would not lock into place, but it was well worth the hassle. Also it comes with a surprisingly good lens and screw driver set. Also it got here way quicker than my orders from Retromodding.com and I can't tell any difference in screen quality from the benvenn one my friend has.

I love it, pretty easy to install, no soldering, and the screen replace is clean
