It just doesn't come like it used to
It just doesn't come like it used to. The kernels are different, and the sweetness has changed. It's still good but not what I remember.

Brown Toasted Sweet Corn Merely Another Form of Dried Sweet Corn
We are living in Louisiana. My sister from PA sent us 2 packages of dried corn for Christmas. The corn was a dark brown instead of the usual golden color. We were quite upset about it. Subsequent research revealed it was toasted dried corn. We did not care for it at all. In the past we had always gotten golden dried sweet corn. My sister mistakenly sent the wrong kind. Our farm family from PA was making dried sweet corn since probably 1900 or even earlier.. When our sweet corn was ready we cut it off the cob. We, then fired up our kitchen stove. Above this stove we suspended from the ceiling a framing of screendoor screen.and spread on this screen above the stove our freshcut corn..Every so often we stirred it. The process took all day.before it was properly dried. Dried sweet corn pudding is the ultimateof puddings in our opinion.

Cope's Dried Corn
We've been feasting on Cope's Dried Corn for several decades now after we first tasted it in Pennsylvania Dutch country. It is unbelievably good, especially in the creamed version (the last recipe on the back of the box). Try it -- I guarantee you'll love it.

Please bring back the original Cope's Corn!
Our family has been enjoying Cope's Corn at holiday meals for generations. Two or three years ago, the product changed. Rather than the cracked kernels in the traditional product, the kernels are now whole. The result is that the recipes on the package no longer work, The creamed corn is now soupy and the taste and texture have changed for the worse. The whole kernels no longer absorb the milk and create that creamy goodness we all loved. The whole kernels are gummy and stick to your teeth when eating the corn. We are no longer a fan of a once much-loved product. The John Cope's company was sold a few years ago and the website now takes you to Hanover Foods. Hanover Foods, please bring back the original product that John Cope made for us!

A Central PA Staple
Always enjoy the taste of home! Cope's dried corn has been a staple at our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner (and of course other dinners throughout the year) since I had it for the first time 40 years ago at my future in-laws house.

glenn gross
I have had this corn since I was a child. My family and my children like to have this for every holiday, it is part of our tradition. I grew up in Pennsylvania and know where the corn comes from.

Excellent side dish
This is excellent dried sweet corn--very much like we used to make ourselves. I do like to toast it a little bit--about 10 minutes at 200 degrees F before soaking.
