Q: We use a buckled collar with safety elastic and attach a tracker. The collar is removed daily for charging. Will the cover make this difficult to do?

It shouldn't. It will be more work. You have to scrunch back the collar away from the buckle each time you take it on and off. The only problem is with long-haired cats. Between the hair on the cats and the amount of material in the collar, there's a lot going on around the neck when you start adding licenses and trackers.

Q: Will this work with a soresto collar?

We have heard anecdotally that this can work, but it is not really in our expertise to say so. It's important to follow the directions of the medicated collar type, by putting such a collar directly on the cat's fur (ie. not inside the tubular Birdsbesafe cover). Use only a breakaway buckled cat collar inside the Birdsbesafe cover, so that it will release automatically if need be. Thank you.

Q: Will this also make my cat more visible to predators like large owls or foxes?

I live in an area with many hawks/owls/foxes/coyote etc and have not had any issues. However I do bring my cat in at night and won’t let him back out until daylight. My cat has been wearing this type of collar for a few years now and I like knowing the birds are a little safer. He still manages to catch squirrels and chipmunks though. The collar does fade so you may want to buy a few to have on hand. Hope this information is helpful to you.

Hi. I use the bird safe collar on my cat. I put it on a collar with a bell. She used to get birds at night also (probably out of their nest), but since she has had the collar on, she has not caught any birds. Also, I order about 6 at a time so when the collar comes off, usually gets caught in a bush, I can put another on again. I use bird safe collars over break away collars. Hope this helps!! ; )
