You NEED longer screws for a 2" vent pipe. Squirrels, birds, pine needles: the adventure stops now!
I got this for my bathroom's new 2" vent pipe. There doesn't seem to be anything made for this size to keep birds/squirrels from messing with it. I love wildlife, but these critters are devious... dangerously curious and a little stupid. Regardless of my contractor's belief, if I leave it open, some squirrel or bird will fall in and not be able to get out - blocking my sewer. This is not a wild guess... it has happened twice in the past. Listening to some creature scrabbling for it's life in the pipe in the wall next to the toilet at 3 am, knowing there is no way to rescue it or end it's suffering... THAT is the stuff of nightmares. If I used the cover made of screen that sits flat, the birds will build a nest on it and it will corrode and fall in - much like my downspouts which are all now carefully covered (You can actually rescue birds from downspouts, it takes a little time and the right nut driver, which is usually the one I can't find.)I have 2 vents on the house, and one on my shop, so I bought the 3 pack. This will work great! It will be next week as the hardware store is closed and I won't get the nerve to climb back up there again for that many days anyhow (I'm afraid of heights.) It is thick sturdy gray plastic. I was all set with spray paint to color my vent, a drill to seat the screws, the driver and bit to tighten them and the ladder. The shingles were unbelievably hot and I literally burned my hands crawling up there - thankfully I'd worn jeans and not shorts! I need at least 2" screws and these are 1.5" long. I sprayed the pipe, tossed the stuff that wouldn't break back to the ground and went back down the ladder. I'll just take the vent cover to my local hardware store next week and they will figure it out what screws (bolts?) I need. It's after noon on Saturday, so they are closed - and it will take me a few days to get my nerve gathered to get on the roof again. If you don't have a local hardware store, it's worth the drive to a place that does have one.I hope my husband doesn't figure out what I did (tried to do) while he was gone, he will be so frustrated I took my clumsy self up that extension ladder with both arms full of tools and parts... but I didn't fall, and some days I just feel like doing it myself! And to be truthful, since I had all the fun of getting up there the first time, I'd certainly be willing to let him go back next weekend with the 9 new longer screws and finish my job (poor fella - this is how most of my projects end, with him finishing them up correctly while I go in the house and make a big pot of soup!)I am hopeful that someday soon, natural selection will get me a smarter batch of wildlife, but the idiot squirrels ate a bag of insecticide granules left out on the porch, so it may be a while...

Very Happy
Prior to purchasing these vent caps, I had no caps or anyway to keep debris out of the roof vents. After searching online, I discovered these caps. They work great. They were easy to install and they hold up in all kinds of weather.

Solid, if you're prepared
Solid and easy to install. I was worried about water intrusion during AZ monsoon season so I added some sleeves and these caps to ensure a dry plumbing vent. Be sure to measure and check the included hardware to ensure proper fitment. But a nice simple solution for added peace of mind.

Looks kinda meh…
I got these to cover a vent on my roof that kept getting tree debris in it. It would work for most people but after putting it on it looked too janky for what I was comfortable with given it was in a visible spot. You could probably spray paint the assembly and drill holes in your vent stack to minimize the plastic and bolts sticking out the sides but I went with a different style to address my needs.

They do fit a 4” pipe.

GOOD covers
We have a CABIN with a sewage holding tank. The cabin plumbing is vented out the roof. We can ‘get away’ with snow covers on this type of venting. (If you live in a COLD winter weather area… it is NOT recommended to cover your air vent!) ICE can block the vent when moisture freezes inside !!!
