This will definitely up your cooking, grilling or smoking game!
One of the first things I cooked was a pork shoulder over hickory, apple, oak and Jealous Devil charcoal on my Big Green Egg. This thing worked better than ever and even allowed me to keep an eye on ambient temp without having to constantly check my Egg thermometer. It produced a perfect cook. Second was T Bones. I’m not a T Bone guy, but after receiving some for Christmas as a gift, I figured I’d try a steak with Meater. I used Jealous Devil coals some mesquite and pecan. The fire was white hot, I seared the steak and watched the Meater. Like I said, I don’t usually cook T Bones, I like thicker cut ribeye and filet so a thinner wider steak is not something I cook frequently enough to time things correctly. Meater goes off telling me to pull and rest the steaks and even though I felt it was early, I did it. The steaks were perfect medium after the rest. I highly recommend this thing to even the most experienced hobby chef. It’ll help you get even better results.

I’m impressed, definitely don’t regret buying.
I’ve been eyeing the MEATER probe since they launched their Kickstarter, but I always considered it a “want” over a “need.” I’ve been doing rotisserie just fine for awhile without it, but I finally decided to buy the MEATER+ and give it a shot.Bottom line: I’m impressed. My setup is a Kamado Joe with Joetisserie, I have a small outdoor kitchen counter right next to my grill that’s a perfect place to put the MEATER+ block where it doesn’t lose connection. The range on my phone works well enough where I can go all around my 2-story house and take the trash out to the curb without losing any connectivity.Setting up the MEATER+ was straightforward. The app gives you detailed and easy to understand instructions on how to insert the probe for best results - make sure you follow those instructions. At first, I was alarmed at the discrepancy between my secondary (and tertiary) ambient thermometers and the MEATER+, but after a little investigation, I found that I had put the probe in a little too far, and once I pulled it out 1/4”, the temperatures were much closer between all three thermometers. When measuring internal temperature of the meat throughout the cook, I compared with a Javelin Duo instant read thermometer, and both readings were dead on.The predictive “time left” algorithm seems accurate to me, I’ve had no issues with it being wrong. It reaches the target temperature when it says it does, even with changes in cooking temp, (this cook was at 375°F for 45 mins and then bumped to 425° for the final 15 minutes, the timing was right on the money). The probe is very easy to clean, even after a messy cook (my first cook was a large rotisserie chicken that dripped fat everywhere). My only con is more of a desire than a complaint, but I wish the block came with an AC plug option so I don’t need to worry about the batteries dying mid-cook. It’s not a huge deal, I just make sure to check the battery level before I start and keep some AAAs on standby. I’ll update this review with battery life readings next time I do a long-haul cook (15+ hours). The glove that came with it is “meh,” I’ll probably never use it. The glove/apron/whatever the seller adds seems to be just a gimmick, but the MEATER+ stands alone as a great value for the $99 price point.

Meater issue
I love my Meater! I do have a problem though. When I used it today and pulled the probe out of the meat, the probe came apart and now doesn’t work. I do love the thermometer, but it is very costly to replace. I would think that it would be better quality for the price. Don’t know if I’ll replace it or not.
