iPod: The Missing Manual

Good, but covers way too much territory.
I try to avoid Apple products because I really despise the company having done business with them and finding them to be inherently unethical, if not dishonest. That said, I needed to acquire an iPod Touch for long-term testing purposes. For my own edification, then, I needed to learn all the important things about the iOS and Apple eco-systems. This is a good book for that. In fact, it is overkill since it not only details the iPod Touch but very other major iPod in the past as well. The writing style is crisp and straight-forward and all the key points are covered. Could you find everything in the book somewhere online? Absolutely, but the book eliminates your needing to invest the time and energy into finding the information. For the modest price, a worthwhile investment, even though you're unlikely to ever use most of the iPod models covered in the book.Jerry

Great book for beginners to advance users
Excellent book.. I love it! A lot of information..not only did I order the IPod manual, I ordered the MacBook and IPhone 11 manual by the same publisher as well. This is my 1st iPhone the manual helped me a lot. 1 book is good but having 3 took me to a whole different level..like connecting a wireless keyboard to my IPod or projector..the IPod is more then a MP3 player...it’s a computer or home entertainment center... it’s mind blowing..why I like instruction manuals. Apple or any computerize hardware and software don’t come with operation manuals. I love the 3 books I’ve bought..would recommend it to beginners to advance users...

Things to know about your Ipod Touch Screen
I have not read all of it yet but I like the fact that it shows me how to operate my iPod. It does a good job of describing the functions of this device. It is easy to read and use for beginners whether you have used an Ipod in the past or not. I would recommend playing with the Ipod first and then reading the manual. That helps me to get acquainted with my devices. Well written easy to read manual.

Bought this for my wife and kids
I'm not an apple fan nor aI a detractor. Because of work and my own leisure preferences I don't have any apple products. Normally with windows or Linux I'm the go to mug when problems arise BUT I absolutely refuse to learn about a new OSor electronic toy hardware so my wife who bought the ipods for our kids can all learn to fix problems and make the most of their electronic stuff.Seems like the book covers a lot of stuff that interests the kids and they think it very useful so I give it 4 stars because they have some common questions that weren't answered by the book and answers were found by asking other kids.

Handy to have, quick and easy.
Still working into it. I bought this book as a alternative to the "Dummies" books but I haven't had time to open it and start on it. These reviews and rating are a pain in the neck for people like me who don't jump into the "fire" to have it consume you.

... the iPod but is short on actual procedure just like the Apple iPod Guide
Covers all the things you can do with the iPod but is short on actual procedure just like the Apple iPod Guide. Great if you know how to use the device, but I purchased it for the basics. I will be looking for a manual that walks you through every step.

downloading audio books to my ipod touch
Nice book, but it does not tell me how to download audio books borrowed from my library onto my ipod. I have iTunes and istore, but hoped that there would be a step by step guide in how to do this - this was the whole reason for purchasing an ipod in the first place.ThankC Kelly

Not quite for all iPods
Currently working my way through this as I have a 4th Gen iPod Touch and want to get more out of it, however the book is more for the later version (similar to the iPhone). Most of the tips I have read so far have been compatible with the earlier version.

Three Stars
A little further depth about the ipod system would have been of enormous help.
