Winco 3" Dial Clear Oven Thermometer

The hardest part of using this is seeing through my oven door which needs to be cleaned, but even now, the numbers and lines are bold enough to read through a little oven window grime. The range of temperatures is ideal and it hooks over the top oven rack to hang at the right angle. I accidentally knocked it off checking on my dessert last night but then it just lands on its foot and stays upright.

I intentionally bought another one (different brand) just to make sure both were showing the same accurate temperature. And so far both are reading out the same degrees. So either both are working good or not, since the temperatures match. -- One thing though, I realized my oven's heat setting was about 50 degrees lower, so if I set it to 350 degrees, I was only getting 300 degrees. So that sucked, glad I got these thermometers. No more under-cooked food.

I bought this gadget to see what was up. Turns out the oven in this apartment kinda sucks. Set the temp at 400. Preheat buzzer sounds 10 minutes later. Winco tells me temp is 225 🤔. Winco tells me it takes 25 minutes to reach max. temp of 385. So-I have two problems. I now know to allow 25 minutes (sigh) for preheating and to set the temp higher than what is desired. The device is big so is easy to read. Black (below 350) or red numbers (350 and up) on a white background. To read it without opening the oven, I use a combo of the oven light with a high intensity flashlight. I hang it from the wire rack. I’d love to stand it up but it falls over it there is any movement of the shelf or baking pans. Roasted veggies are now delightfully carmelized and baked goods are rising as expected.

Large. Easy to read dial which has a crisp white background. Most importantly the Fahrenheit markings show the temperature in 10° increments. Unlike many other thermometers which have intermediate hashtags at 25° intervals. The Celsius markings are on the inside and are smaller and are in 5° increments. I purchased this and the CDN thermometer CDN DOT2 ProAccurate Oven Thermometer-NSF Certified https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000095RC5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Wo-NybTJ492BH and both arrived today. The photo below shows how much larger and easier to read the Winco thermometer is. The CDN thermometer has a metallic background making it harder to read and the markings are in 25° intervals. As for accuracy, the thermometers both read very close to each other and indicate that my oven thermometer is registering about 20° low. Of these two thermometers I would thus choose the Winco.

I have bought quite a few of these and about 20% of them are inaccurate out of the box. About another 10% become inaccurate after 4-6 months use. I like them because of the scale range and readability, just wish they were more reliable.

This oven thermometer has been a great help for my bread baking. When the outside temps or kitchen temps aren't conducive for bread proofing, I use this thermometer to get my toaster oven to stay at an ideal proofing temp.

This just arrived this afternoon and I am sitting eating a perfectly cooked Spinach, tomato and goat cheese pizza! Not only am I not used to cooking with an electric oven at my new apartment but you cannot see how hot the oven is through the membrane controls which I thought I could still work with since I knew it started off at 350 and I was trying to count the beeps. Lol. Well let me tell you I completely ruined a pizza last week where the bottom looked golden and perfect but the top you couldn't tell it had cheese or pepperoni! After taking stock of the reviews on here i decided on this one and I think it's the BEST thing I have ever purchased yet! The pizza box said 425 for 12-14 minutes but something told me 8 minutes and I was right on the money.

Me lo reocmendaron con anterioridad y utilizarlo me ha ayudado a saber si el horno está calentando a la temperatura que la perilla marca, es fácil de usar, solo le agregaría material resistente al calor para sujetarlo sin quemarse, porque puede ser que necesite retirarlo antes o durante el horno funcionando y agarrarlo con pinzas es complicado porque se resbal y cae al piso del horno.

Útil para saber la temperatura real del horno

Ya no más adivinar si el horno está a la temperatura adecuada. Funciona bien, aunque no es muy visible a través de la ventana del horno.
