Micro Center SuperSpeed 5 Pack 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Gum Size Memory Stick Thumb Drive Data Storage Jump Drive (64G 5-Pack)

Before I had purchased this 5-pack, I knew Micro Center was a reputable brand for all things electronic. The 64 gigabyte size per thumb drive (the caveat is that the size is really in the upper ~50GB, some of the storage is reserved for some technical behind-the-scenes stuff) for 5 drives for ~$20 is honestly an absolute steal. I personally use them for things like my Roku TV for live pausing, my PlayStation to play my downloaded music, backup important files, etcetera. The data transfer on these drives are also generally snappy, but of course the more you transfer at once the slower it can be. These flash drives also generally don't overheat, but they can also get rather warm when you use them for long periods of time-- it really depends on what you're transferring and how often you do so.The only complaint I have is when I want to export videos from my PlayStation to a thumb drive, I often get a pop up that it cannot receive videos over a certain size (to my memory it's about ~4GB, and this is not because there's simply not enough storage on the drive). It's not a deal breaker though as I can simply edit/trim down the videos to make them more "digestible" for the drive, it's just a matter of technical convenience.

To preface, I like Micro Center a lot and have had a couple of thumb drives from them that I have got for free through coupons. I bought this pack so I have enough on hand for many purposes.A very good value pack of quality thumb drives that can be used for many purposes. I myself use a few of them to store individual ISO files and some with a multi-boot ISO program for holding multiple ISO files on a single drive. They work really well as individual boot drives and decently well as basic storage drives. It transfers small files individually pretty fast. But if your files are pretty large or you are transferring a very large amount of files, then it might feel a bit slow. But that is pretty much a given for most flash drives. Overall, great option for a pack of quality thumb drives that work really well for a handful of use cases.

Not one of them didn't work so I'm going to have to say they were really reliable. They did get a little warm but I don't think excessively they fit in the USB port just fine and they were made out of a good material. I wish they were a little smaller but I don't care I guess

I've been buying these little Microcenter sticks regularly since the 32gb variants were $70, and that was a bargain back then. They continue to get bigger, and are still cheap! Luckily, they're cheap... Because that's mostly the appeal. You'll see a lot of reviews complaining about speeds, and others glowing about speeds. Here's the breakdown on this: it depends. Silicon is not a perfect process, there will always be variations. In my attached pictures, you'll see very different numbers for the different capacities.. And guess what? If I had multiples of the same capacities, you'd likely see similar variations between the "same" drives.. Because no two pieces of silicon are going to perform the same. When you pay more for a thumb drive, you're paying for a process known as "binning", where the company only uses silicon that meets certain specs they're going for. Inland (manufacturer of the Microcenter drives), as far as I'm aware, uses the "rejected" silicon of other companies. "How awful!", you're thinking... But it's really not. A lot of the time, there's nothing at all wrong with the silicon, it just didn't meet the original manufacturer's standards. It's why these sticks are so cheap, and usually why the performance varies so wildly from stick to stick.There are many technical aspects of these I can dwell on, but basically, these are relatively awful devices, but at awfully excellent prices. I've been buying them for years, and while performance is laughable, I myself haven't had one die on me. I've felt like I'd die waiting for some transfers to complete, but the sticks themselves keep going. Even my $70 32gb stick back from 2009 is still going. I use it to bootstrap a mini computer that lacks an HDD. This, again, is all wildly variable... You may have it die on you, or you may have excellent luck, like I've had... But that's really how all products are these days. Sad but true. Luckily Microcenter will swap it out for you if it messes up.I will ding these one star for the controller. The Phison chips choke easily. If I'm writing to a drive at all, reading is out of the question. These things cannot read while writing to save their lives. So if you're planning on running a live OS on it (such as making a Linux stick), these are hard to recommend for that purpose. Even downloading a small file, it can cause the system to go unresponsive for upwards a minute at a time while the controller figures out what it's actually doing.So to sum up, for movies, music, documents, any typical daily usage, etc.. These are fine little sticks. They are terrible for live OS purposes. They've been reliable for me, and the performance is going to vary from stick to stick. If you need something more consistent, by all means, pay more.. But for most of my uses, these are my workhorses.Update: 2/10/21: still going strong. Have purchased more of these since this review, and no issues. My original 32gb stick from 2009 finally died, but it was physical damage from me accidentally snapping the plug off of it when it was plugged in. Almost 12 years out of a "cheap" stick is quite impressive, and I wish I could've seen how much longer it would have gone had I not broken it.Amazon is recommending I make a mention of storage capacity (as "advertised", though keep in mind the overheads. 256GB will not actually be 256gb, as roughly 15% is overhead. This applies to all drives)Amazon also recommends I mention "ease of use"... It's a thumb drive. They all work the same way. Plug em in and put stuff on em.And finally, Amazon recommends I mention "warmth", and this is a recommendation I agree is worth discussing. I never even considered it an issue until I was looking at other drives to serve as a boot drive, and indeed, these drives do emit some heat when under load. It's noticeably warmer than it would be when idle, but never a cause of concern. I wouldn't bother mentioning it unless I was asked about it, as it never seemed abnormally warm.

I'm gonna start by echoing other reviews, these are not the fastest drives around, plain and simple. If you're looking for something super fast for a lot of writing data to the drive, look elsewhere like Sandisk, Samsung, or Kingston. These are slow to write, they're fine at first starting a transfer and then the write speed will tank if the files are anything of substance.But if you're doing mostly read intensive stuff these are fine. Mine have been great for bootable USB drives with Windows ISOs, macOS installers and patchers, and Ventoy. The read speeds are stable and fine enough for that in my experience.They might also be ok for a write occasionally read sometimes backup, but they should NOT be your only backup. (3-2-1 rule!!).If you need something simple, like bootable drives, a drive to throw some music/videos/media on and play on a TV/car/media player, store very simple small word documents and stuff, or you're ok with slow writes, these are fine for that.I'm not sure if this has applied to the 64GB model, but for other capacities there was inconsistency in reviews with some having status/activity LEDs and some not. I can say that the two 64GB drives I got in March 2024 DO have activity LEDs, but knowing how these drives are produced there's always a chance a different batch later on could have different parts and thus no LED, and then another batch could bring it back, so it's a toss up.Overall, I'm a loyal Micro Center customer and their drives on Amazon are wonderful value and I'm glad to be able to get them easily here instead of taking a big trip to the physical location!

I use a lot of flash drives for audiobooks and music, so that's what I got this one for. I usually go with the 64GB drives but this one was so cheap I figured why not? Well I can tell you why not. Ultimately, I wish I'd just paid a few $ more and gone with a different brand because I realize now that it's cheap for a reason...The drive itself works-sort of--but its plastic casing is cheap and flimsy. Like the kind of flimsy that you expect to break if you drop it. It's definitely not the sort of drive i would recommend putting on your key chain or putting in your pocket or backpack to carry around with you. I might end up relegating it to the car for times when i've got no other sources of music with me to plug into the stereo (though i'm not sure it would even agree to work there for me).As far as performance goes, it works (sort of) and has decent speed. It worked alright in my MacBook but when I plugged it into my dad's apple desktop to get some music it didn't work. His computer just wouldn't recognize it; it kept making that thinking sound like it knew it was there but couldn't read it. Right after this I tried it in my mom's MacBook (it recognized it with zero problems), but I ended up having to borrow a flash drive from my dad because I had to get the whole Beatles catalog from his desktop.My best advice is: pay a few $ more for a more trustworthy brand (personally, I like the PNY brand cause I have a bunch and none of them have ever failed me, even after years use).UPDATE: so it's been several months and I've raised my rating because after buying some other cheap drives, I TAKE IT ALL BACK! Forget what I said above! This might not be the absolute best, but it's definitely the best consistently cheap flash drive i can find. Some of the other flash drives I bought have been really horrible in comparison and they just made me realize that the only problem I ever had with this one was the one time my dad's computer didn't recognize it. Aside from that one day, this drive's been working great for me (the first one I bought is full and it's still pretty fast!).

Like the fact that they are "capped" and no issues with the recordings. Would purchase again.

These work exactly as they should. I ended up not needing them for the purpose I bought them for. Instead, I used these to replace some old thumb drives that were less than 32GB.

Very fast - and no data errors - found yet - will test the key to the very end to be sure !

It works very well - fast video save and read time. Lots of space for a day to TV for playback. Use your computer as your PVR.
