It performed like promised
The first thing I did with this unit is try a dvd from another region and a bluray from another zone. The DVD did great without having to do anything to the player. After inserting a zone B bluray, I got the message that a zone B will not play in this player. I then booted the player just like the instructions said and it played fine. I was pleasantly surprised that once you play a bluray from another zone, you do not have to reboot the machine to go back to zone A. It switched zones by it'self. I went back and forth without having to power down. One little thing you have to watch for. If you insert a bluray from another zone and get the message that it will not play, you have to hit "stop" twice before removing the disc to boot up to another zone. If you don't, it will go to the same place in the disc and you will get the error again. Everything else on this player works great. I can stream netflix with no problem. The only weird thing with the network is I couldn't make it see the wired connection, but it works fine wireless. One other thing is , the player does not have a display but that doesn't matter to me. The video is awesome.

NOT Region Free
This is a good player with many options and amenities. However, I recently tried to play a Region 2 DVD and it would not recognize it. I did everything that was suggested by everyone, including resetting to the baseline and setting it up again for R2, but it simply wouldn't recognize the disc. Thought it was possibly a bad disc set so I put a disc in my previous player and it played immediately. Just a bit disappointing since I thought this would be an all around everything player.UPDATE: After continually being unable to play discs from other regions, and also seeing many artifacts, stutters, and freezes while playing R1 discs, I contacted LG and was told to send them the player so they could fix it. It has been well over a month now and no word from them. I have also reached out to them and asked for a simple update as to the status of the repair and still no word from them. At this point, I truly wish I had not spent the money on this player as I could have found something else that works and I would be able to watch the discs I bought specifically because this player was supposed to be able to play them. Incredibly disappointed.SECOND UPDATE: For the sake of fairness, I must say that the "missing" player was left at the wrong doorstep and was forgotten by the older woman who took it in a couple doors down from us. That said, LG should have answered the emails I sent to ask them where it was. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, the unit STILL DOES NOT PLAY MULTI-REGION DISCS!! They returned it with a "Repaired" notice on the box and it still doesn't work. What did they do with the player? So I wholeheartedly say, Do Not Buy This Player. I could have spent $100 less and gotten the same thing from another brand, that plays 4K HD. Now I have to get another player to play region free discs. Frustrated and disappointed and won't buy anything LG again. I truly hope your experience is a better one if you decide to take the plunge anyway.

A Bit Expensive but Worth Every Penny
I have dozens of region 2 DVDs that I could only play on my computer but now I can watch them on my 4KUHD TV. This is a fantastic player. You don't have to do a thing to play DVDs. It plays all DVD regions with no adjusting or entering codes. I plugged it in right out of the box and it played instantly. I played a region B blu ray with absolutely no problems. Not sure if this has "memory" for the disc but I set it for blu ray region B. It played the disc beautifully. Then I put in a region A and it played without my having to change the code. Just to test it, I put the region B disc back in and it played it perfectly without changing the code as per instructions. So maybe it "remembers" the disc? Don't know but really easy to use. I bought a cheap, supposedly region free, DVD player and the picture was grainy and the voice was always "off." This gives a clear picture and great sound. Highly recommend.

Region Switching, Easy!
I'd thought about buying one of these for some time. I have several interests that have never been released in Region 1, but fearing some kind of grey market item, I put it off. Finally, after even more of these films and programs being remastered, and some being released for the first time exclusively to Region 2, I took the leap. It's a good little machine and it's region changing is as simple as a single button to push.Hit that number 2 button and the unit boots right up to Region 2. Hit that number 1 button, and you're right back to Region 1.I had one occurance where the unit froze and recognized neither. I tried unplugging it a couple of times to reset, but no luck. I figured I would send it back, but thought I would try once more. After about 24 hours I plugged it back in, and it was working perfectly. I've not had that trouble since. The LG unit itself is a nice player, but paired with my 2020 TCL Roku 4k TV, I found the audio synch on playback to be absolutely dreadful. The unit does not have an audio synch function, nor does it have an angle menu.My Vizio sound bar had limited sync options and I never could sync it up correctly, but with my later model JBL 5.1 it works much better with blu-ray and DVDs. I still can't for the life of me get a good sync with a 4k blu-ray disc though. In my online research, that may have more to do with the TV.To sum up, the region decoding on my unit, at least for Regions 1 and 2 works as advertised. I've not tried Region 3.There are however probably better 4k players with more options out there than this LG.

4K DVD PLAYER UBK90
As you can see from the pictures, I ordered the LG UBKM9 but I received the LG UBK90 instead. Turns out that was a good mistake because the UBK90 has since been improved to do everything I wanted it to do. It upscales my old dvd's to unimaginable clarity. It plays my region 1 & 2 dvd's with no problems whatsoever.4K dvd's look as real as real can get. I haven't yet tested the 3D capability or region 2 blu-rays. I recommend this dvd player especially if you have an LG tv.
