This is better than the pad holders!!
I use puppy pads in the Dog Litter Pan my 3lb Maltipoo loves it and that makes me very happy!!! He took to it right away, much better than the puppy pad holder and this is large enough to get maximum coverage and use out of a 22x22 puppy pad as shown in the picture. I have it inside his Iris 4 panel pen along with his crate and other items you can see in the picture. He now does not have to wake me up during the night to "go potty". I just change his pad out in the morning before I feed him and all is well in puppy land! I wish i had bought this before the puppy pad holder and saved my self the cost. In hind site if little Onyx ever starts to raise his leg the Dog Litter Pan has tall enough sides to cover that as well.

Just what I was looking for!
I purchased this for my 9 week old mini Dachshund. Works great! She is very tiny, only 4lbs. so this is perfect for her potty training. There is a "lip/dip" I on one side which makes it easy for her to get in and out with her tiny 2" legs. I started off using puppy pads on the floor but at times she would get too close to the edge and miss. I now put the puppy pads in this and she jumps in and out and it all stays in the pan. Since she is going to stay small and we have stairs at both our front and back entrances, we will probably use this through out her adult life. I'm very happy this is working out. (I tried to get a good pic but she was too fast. :) )

Just what my disabled kitten needed
I rescued a kitten recently that was stepped on by a horse, permanently crippling her rear legs. A regular litter box just wasn't going to work given her limited mobility. This litter box is PERFECT. She still struggles a little getting over the 3" clearance, but she can do it. I was told she wouldn't be able to use a litter box but they were wrong. She just needed the right kind. Thank you for making a product like this that can enhance the quality of life for so many animals!

DANGEROUS!
Beware, this product will tip forward like a seesaw when your dog steps out of box! My 6 month old French Bulldog was stepping out of it and the entire box seesaws or jacks up or tilts up and then the box falls back down and the lip slammed him. He was in visible pain and was limping severely. I checked to see if he had broken bones, thankfully no. He has fully recovered now. The littler box has an entry lip that is angled and slightly curved. The entry lip is several inches above the floor AND it reaches forward of the actual box. The entry lip is the problem and a very dangerous design. Did they not doggy test the test specimen? Maybe, if a cat used it they are not heavy enough to tilt the box as they step out of the box, but this product IS advertised as a small DOG litter box. I have two French bulldogs, they both weigh about 20 pounds, well within the size and weight limits of the product.’s recommendation. If the dog jumps out of the box then there is no problem with the entire box leaning forward. It’s when they step on the lid to step out of the box. This product’s size DOES work far better than a cat sized litter box because it’s larger pan size allows the small dog enough space to step in and turn around. With a cat litter box the boys are prone to urinate just outside the entry point. The back and side walls of this dog litter box is much higher than a normal litter box. The thinking is that the litter will hit the back or side of these higher walls when the dog back scratches after doing his business. Seems to work as thought, however these higher walls are therefore heavier. This extra weight should keep the pan down, but it does not when the dog steps off. The design makes the box act like a leverage arm, or lever, that raises the entire litter box high in the air. When it falls back down it crashes loudly to the floor. This force suddenly coming back down is the dangerous part. Potentially, if you have other small animals who are around the box when the dog uses it can be hurt when it falls back down. God forbid you have a small child crawling around the box at that time. The fix would be to resist the pan so that it is underneath the long entry lid. Another fix would be to make the kid’s front lid go down all the way to the floor. This would prevent the entire box from lifting. You can put a brick or wooden piece underneath the front lid as a temporary fix. Cat litter boxes do NOT have an entry lid that sits so far forward over the actual pan. They can make the pan longer? And yes I do use enough litter in the litter box. There is a visual error protruding line along the box. In either case the company recommends a few inches of litter. I hope they listen and fix the problem. If they do this would be a five star review.

Great for indoor dogs who use a pee pad
I have always taught my Chihuahuas to use a litter box so that I don't have to contend with taking them outside in winter or when the weather is bad. This is the best box I have found for this purpose and my current puppy goes in and out with ease. It's the perfect size for pee pads. If you teach your dog to use pee pads in here and you get a Diaper Genie for disposal Playtex Diaper Genie Elite Pail System with Odor Lock Carbon Filter, 100 Count , you and your small dog will be very happy.

Great for Cats, Kittens, and Cats with Arthritis and Disabilities
Really, the seller should change the title and marketing info to include cats, as well. I have an arthritic cat with somewhat short legs. Getting in and out of traditional litter boxes was getting to be difficult for her. I tried many searches at Amazon and other sites with different strings of key words, and could find nothing on the market that would help, until one of the Amazon searches turned up this pan. The 24x20 size seems large, but no cat wants a too-small litter box. (Just like no adult wants to use a child's training potty.) A cat or puppy needs space to tend to business, so that the business is inside, and not outside, the box. Now, I'm back for a second box. I'm assisting a stray kitten who had 6 kittens, all of whom need to learn how to use a litter box. The entry is just 3 inches off the floor, making it ideal for kittens, arthritic cats, and any cat. My 4-year-old cat is just as likely to use this litter box as the traditional one with a high back. I use a clay-based clumping litter and don't have a problem with litter being kicked out of the box. But if you have a cat that loves to send its litter flying, then this may not work. The highest sides are just 5 inches. I keep a minimum of 2 - 3 inches of litter in the box, and can scoop the waste easily. Liquid waste that works its way down to the bottom of the pan still scoops up easily. I haven't had anything stick, and the pan itself is always clean on the bottom, saving lots of work in cleaning. When you're ready to clean the pan itself, a simple wiping or hosing down outside will do. Always clean your litter boxes daily, and then cats don't scratch around as much (or send litter flying) trying to find a clean spot!
