Fits 25HP yamaha like a glove
just got this and it fits my 2010 F25hp Yamaha outboard like a glove. I used electrical tape to wrap the turn buckles and the threads to be sure I don't get any rattling, that works great. the lock itself fits into the bracket nice and snug and with the tape, It never made a peep for the two days in a row that I was in the boat at various levels of speed and idle. After reading some of the negative reviews of locks rusting shut, I sprayed lithium grease into the locking openings and sprayed liquid wrench dry silicone all over the outside of the lock to prevent it from freezing up. I had that problem with a basspro motor lock years ago and had almost destroyed my motor bracket trying to get the thing off, so now I know I need to maintain this lock every so often to keep from doing that with this newer motor. OH YEAH!!!! don't forget to put a spare key in a safe place and label it!!!! locks smith wont touch it if he cant get to it.

Does what it's supposed to.
I've owned a bunch of these over the years, using them to lock my outboard to my duck boat. The boat sits alone for days at a time until I return to it and this is a way to keep honest people honest. The reason I have had a few of these is because somehow I always seem to lose the key and have to cut the bar off with a grinder. Just so you know, if somebody shows up with a grinder they will be able to get this off.

Stops the Quick Grab and Go Theft
Not the heaviest metal out there for this type of lock, but still substantial enough to stop a quick grab and go theft of your outboard. I used this on a 2019 15hp Suzuki 4 stroke and it fit well. A thief will have to work at it to get this off.

This outboard lock is a great buy.
I have owned several of these masterlock units for years. For the money, they are the best. They go onto the engine very easily. Hey, if someone wants your outboard, they can get it. Stories abound about thieves who even cut transoms with chainsaws in order to get at the engines. Just put a good lock on, have insurance, and enjoy life!

Great lock for outboard motors
Easy to mount and lock. Comes with a lock which is excellent. My only complaint is that it can rattle and cause annoying vibration noise on my aluminum boat. When mounting on a Suzuki DF20 I had to slightly file down the transom clamps to fit the locking bar. It was a very tight fit without filing the clamps down.

It's ok, not the heaviest steel, but should do the job
it doesn't strike me as very heavy duty, nor as good as the one that I used to have. It did go on easily and should be fine. hopefully it will never be tested by thieves! the lock can be removed by cutting the shank that's exposed at the top, with a moto tool sort of device (which I had to do on my old one). Also, any lock that's exposed to weather needs to be lubricated periodically, or they will be a problem getting to unlock - which is more an issue of maintenance rather than the manufacturer, IMO. I have had luck of squirting silicone or wd40 or other similar products into locks to get them to open, but will try to remember to keep this one lubed!

I like
Bought this to replace the identical one 15 yrs old. Rusted out. This lock will slow down a thief but with a crowbar or a metal saw say goodbye to your engine. Good quality lock for the $. For max protection, go for the bolt thru transom locks . Especially for the larger outboards .

Mostly good.
In general, this outboard motor lock was fine and I'm sure that it will do the job. A couple of shortcomings: The first is that it was a tight fit over the outboard clamp head pivots, even though the outboard was a 'standard' Suzuki 6hp. I managed to get it to fit after a fair amount of jiggling. The second is that it rattles a bit in use. (Not too surprising, I guess). Nothing that a bit of foam wouldn't fix.

Bought to comply with my insurance and it was easy to fit on my 30hp 1989 evinrude
Not the most complicated piece of kit, but it does what it is supposed to. Bought to comply with my insurance and it was easy to fit on my 30hp 1989 evinrude. Took about 30 seconds. It doesn't interfere with my manual tilt mechanism either so I can leave it on all the time.
