Dynarex Povidone Iodine Swabsticks, Swabstick Packaged in Individual Foil Pack, Antiseptic for Skin Preparation, Brown, 1 Box of 50 Povidone Iodine Swabsticks

I had an infection on my shin and needed these to use them four times daily for new dressings. They are great but many of the packages didn't have enough of the betadine wash in them to be soaked up by the applicator. I have had to use two swabs quite often.

Swabs seemed a little dry.Still useable, but expected more liquid.Meh

I have used both the single swab packs like this as well as the 3 swab packs sold by the same manufacturer. I prefer this single swab packet.There is definitely more product on the single swab version. My guess is that precisely the same total amount of povidone-iodine is in both the 3 swab and single swab packages, but the former ends up seeming relatively dry because the liquid is "shared" by three swabs.When rubbed on the skin, a single swab packet "paints" a greater amount of povidone-iodine than all three swabs in the other. Therefore, I personally find this single swab version to be superior. See Addendum below:Addendum May 2022- After having no trouble with prior orders, I have now experienced finding that the single packets can also be quite dry - so that I had to purchase a bottle of povidone iodine to add to the packet once opened. You cannot be sure you are adequately applying the product unless the swab is saturated. These single packets were not. Either for financial reasons or for lack of adequate quality control, these swabs are either can be just right or quite dry. I suggest that if you purchase these that you test a few immediately and return them if too dry. Let the manufacturer know this is unacceptable.

Product worked well on sores on toes. Packaging was not durable nor protective inner box /container was badly crushed. End product was all usable.

30% of the swabsticks did not have enough iodine on them I had to put more iodine on them or throw them away

Well, this has never happened to me before. I have taken out quite a few swabsticks out of the package to see what was going on. There is practically NO iodine on each swab. Are they dried out? I had to take my fingers and try to squeeze the swab to get any iodine out of it- completely defeating their purpose of keeping the area disinfected. Anyone else have this problem, or did I get a defective shipment?
