... was the most inspiring and thorough yet practical and easy to read book on prayer I have ever read
This was the most inspiring and thorough yet practical and easy to read book on prayer I have ever read. Actually, I went through it twice - after going through it once as a personal devotional, and went through it again about a year later with a friend of mine, doing the readings together daily - and it was just as refreshing and impacting as the first time I read it - I dare even say, more so. I have always struggled in the area of consistency in prayer. Even though I'm a Christian, prayer often felt like work - like a duty. I would have seasons where I would be consistent for a few days, or a few weeks, and most rare, a few months - but this is the first book on prayer I read that totally revitalized and my prayer life! I am not at all exaggerating. I was hooked from the Intro! I actually looked forward to my time in prayer and reading the next chapter each day! I have come to have a new respect for prayer and its power, and value prayer more than I ever have in my life since reading this book. These authors were undoubtedly led by the Holy Spirit in writing this book. If you've ever wondered, "Does prayer really work?" "Why aren't all my prayers answered?" "Why do we need to pray if God already knows what we need?" "I want to pray - but I don't even know what to pray about." or really if you just want a more intimate relationship with the Lord, this book is a must read! I wish I could give it 20 stars!! I was actually a little disappointed when I got to the end the first time - LOL! I was sorry it was over! And the prayers at the end of each chapter just felt like someone read my heart and put it into words. So many times I would read the prayer at the end of the chapter and think to myself - Oh my goodness, that's exactly how I feel! That's exactly what I want to say to God! I can't recommend this book enough. For just a few dollars you are investing in a potentially life-changing experience. Seriously. Get the book.

Must Read
I have been reading this book and I'm amazed how much my prayers have improved. I have a class I have been doing that we write our prayers out. I can not believe that these prayers are coming out of me. A huge improvement in my prayers and communication to God. You will be thankful to buy this book. A must for any developing Christian.

Tremendous blueprint to enhance one's prayer life.
Besides the fact the book is associated with the Kendrick's "War Room" movie release, it comes with a clear mandate: prayer is a weapon in the battle with the enemy. It begins with a wonderful testimony of answered prayer which had serious implications for the two brothers and their family. Often our prayers can become unfocused and generic and this book provides a blueprint for a more strategic biblically based prayer life. The 35 short chapters are spread out across seven sections: Enlistment, Basic Training, Conditioning, Strategies, Targets, Ammunition and Reinforcements and the authors encourage you to read a chapter a day. Each chapter starts with a bible verse relating to the topic, moves into a short commentary and ends with a specific prayer. The 35 prayers alone make the investment in the book extremely worthwhile. I'm hoping the authors may provide some form of abbreviated resource that records only the prayers and chapter headings.I found most of the topics were covered in enough detail however, there were some could have had more. There are also a number of excellent appendices providing bible verses and pointers to specific prayer points which I expect will be used by many readers. This is a book that will help all people pray more strategically whether or not your new to it or a veteran. But it's important to always remember that the best way to to get better at prayer is by having your Bible open and start praying.

Structured approach to powerful prayer
I was introduced to the book by the movie, War Room, and bought it because I wanted to learn how to pray with the power and conviction depicted in the movie. The book delivers. It provides great I sight into praying in general, and praying I specific situations, all backed up by Scripture. It provides "formulae" to use for different purposes, and helped me tailor prayers to suit my particular situation. This is a book to be savoured over time. Read a chapter and then reflect on and pray about it for a few days before moving on to the next. Don't rush it. Meditate and reflect. The one quibble would be that the discussion questions should follow directly after the relevant chapter, not in an appendix at the end. Probably not a big deal when reading a physical book, but in the ebook format I did not scroll back and forth each time. But what a blessing it has been. Thank you Stephen and Alex Kendrick.
