Retract-A-Gate Drywall Anchor Kit

Worked well and great quality materials, but a bit pricey considering you only get enough for one of the retract-a-gate hooks.

I love my Retract-a-gate. Getting and installing brackets for it is challenging though. I'm not sure why it is designed this way, but the hook has screw holes in front and behind, making it too wide to install on a stud. I don't know why the screw holes weren't designed above and below the screw, so that the base is vertical instead of horizontal. My guess is so that you have to buy more hardware. So the hook has one screw on a stud and the other in drywall.So in most mounting instances (we had it mounted at the top of our stairs in our old house, and now we have it across the end of a hall way inside and another set of mounts at the top of our deck stairs outside) you wouldn't need these. But our hallway opens up into a weird doorway area and try as we could, we could not find a good way to mount this without buying drywall anchors. I hate mounting baby gates into drywall because we all know KIDS HANG ON GATES. We moved here when our daughter was 1 1/2 years old, and the anchors lasted until she was 3. Now there are big holes in the drywall where the whole thing came right out of the wall. But what surprised me was how small the anchor had expanded to. As the screw turns, it folds the 4 metal bands in half, making them stick out. But they don't stick out very far. One side had a band fold inward instead of outward, so it blocked the screw from turning any more, so none of the other three bands had expanded. No wonder it came through the hole. I'm going to get spring toggles to replace this, and for a lot less money.

I didn’t realize these only come with TWO anchors when you may need up to EIGHT. You could order so many better quality anchors for the price. Just skip this completely.Does it work? Yes.

Great product!

Extremely overpriced and it only fits 1 bracket. In other words, you need 4 of these if your not directly in the studs at all. HUGE waste of money IMO. Save yourself some money and just use regular wall anchors from home depot or Lowes. You can buy these very same ones from there at pennies on the dollar.
