A fresh approach!
As a trombone player in the house orchestra at Caesar's Palace, I saw phenomenal talent pass through. What was behind them, and almost never spoken of, were the musical arrangers! I hung out with some of them, asking how they did it. Everyone one of them came back to the same assertion...learn basic music theory. But their approach to dominating the fundamentals varied greatly. Keyboard and guitar were the foundation instruments with which they worked. Mr. Shepard, an accomplished performer, has come up with an intuitive tool that will serve many a novice looking for a leg up. It is not just the facts that he serves up, it is the utter simplicity of method that impresses me. It is a fresh, powerful approach. Thank you!

Easiest way I've ever seen
I've been playing guitar and bass for 40 years and am starting to teach my son. I wanted an easy way to show him and here it is!

What’s inside
This book is about techniques to memorize the circle of fifths, not any insight about using the circle of fifths. Perhaps I misunderstood, but it wasn’t what I expected

Huh?
the author's brain must work a lot differently than mine. the circle of fifths is now as clear as mud to me.since he put his phone number on the final page I think I have no choice but to phone him and ask if hecan explain the text and ideas and how he makes sense of any of this.

Not worth paying for
Doesn't have anything you can't get for free on the internet. Very disappointing. Short and not particularly helpful. Definitely not worth paying for.

Clear, simple and effective!
This is a great little book and does exactly what it says it will: you come away very quickly knowing what sharps and flats there are in every key. clearly written, clear diagrams, easy method. it’s great. I wish there were more books in music theory like this! I’ve had posters of cycle 5ths up before and never remembered the info for long or had it to hand in my mind when I needed it. This is a really good, clear and easy to remember method.

Perfect
As an adult new to learning an instrument and trying to understand scales this book was perfect . Honestly after one read through , I was able to recall how to work out the sharps and flats in a scale - well worth the purchase

Great, it's what the teacher never taught us!!!
To put it simply, it's a great little book. An easy to read & understand guide on how to remember all the sharps & flats in the circle of 5ths. Enabling once learned, remembrance of the circle WITHOUT reference to any charts. If only they taught this system at school then there would be a lot more musicians out there.

Excellent little book
I now understand how to build scales, without just having to remember them. Using the information as a tool, I can always work out ‘forgotten’ scales. I emailed Danny with a question relating to scales and cannot thank him enough for the useful information he sent me.
