BH&G Ultimate Cookie Book: More than 500 Tempting Treats Plus Secrets for Baking Better Cookies (Better Homes and Gardens Ultimate)

Shipping was fast, and it came in great condition! This book is full of childhood memories. My old book got destroyed, and they stopped publishing this over a decade ago. So, when I saw this on Amazon I bought it instantly. All the cookies I loved to bake (and eat) are right here! I know I'll treasure it forever and be instantly taken back to my childhood with every smell and bite.

This cookie cookbook was filled with great cookie recipes.

This looks like a nice cookie cookbook--lots of color photos, lots of recipes. The problem is that many of the recipes call for using hydrogenated shortening (Crisco, e.g.), which we're supposed to be avoiding for health reasons. I realize, of course, that eating lots of cookies isn't exactly healthy, but as long as I'm going to bake them at home, I'd just as soon avoid using partially hydrogenated fat. Most store-bought cookies have at least a small amount of thisstuff. So I'll have to pick and choose carefully.

This was a gift to my daughter. She likes its and has fun finding new recipes to bake. Other family members looked at the bookand were pleased to see recipes for cookies they have not had in a long day. IT MADE A GREAT GIFT!!

I enjoyed reading this book, not just reviewing and using the recipes. It has a lot of "cookie information" that even a seasoned cook can put to good use. For example, I did not know that storing soft cookies with firm ones is not the thing to do. Just an overall good book for new or experienced bakers.

Wow if you can't find a cookie recipe to make from this book I don't think it exists. They have classic recipes , new ones, bars, brittles you name it. The ? Is where to begin.

My friend had this cookie book and I had to have it!! She purchased it last year and I was lucky enough to find it online. Excellent book with great recipes and easy to read and follow!! So happy with this purchase!!!!

The selection of treats is amazing. Nice photos as well.

Ok it's bad to review something without baking from it yet, however since they don't let you see in the book properly like you would in a bookshop, someone might find this useful. This baby is jam-packed with pictures. Loads of recipes which I'm desperate to start making. There's a lot of american ingredients for some recipes though - English alternatives but we wouldn't normally buy them in my experience - shortening, molasses (treacle??), corn syrup (golden?) and vanilla wafers?? I won't have trouble tweaking any of these because quite frankly the books I buy have notes made all over them. It does use cup measures which I love actually (however I wish all books were like "Sweet food" which gives cup measures and things like butter which you cut from the pack in grammes!).This will definitely take me into new territory cookie wise (chocolate chip, gingerbread and shortbread *yawn*) and for the price it is definitely a bargain.
