Hear me out first, it’s a piece of work. Got the CPU/RAM? Go for it.
Cheapest LGA 2011-3 chipset board I could find. At a first glance, I've seen these boards listed on eBay that are shipped out from Asia. But there was literally no further information, other than 'for X99 2011-3 intel'. But this is typically what you would expect from....imported goods from the opposite hemisphere.Unfortunately, there was no manual with the shipment. I had to do some research and come to find out that this is one of those Shenzhen manufactured motherboards that supposedly don't follow typical motherboard standards, according to an informative video by GamerNexus on Youtube. Basically, these are just motherboards assembled together with whatever parts were lying around. Hence, why there was literally no manufacturer name on it. It's literally just a random black and green board!I wanted to pair this with a 4 core Xeon and some memory but since normal boards are stupidly expensive, I decided to gamble with it and go with this board. This was quite a journey. I assembled it out of case to make sure everything is up and running. I power it on, and I notice that there's an on board BIOS/POST code. It would always stop at L9, come to find out later I was reading it up side down. It was actually 67. Looking this up online, along with some community help, ASUS and GIGABYTE POST codes say that this is a memory error. Not sure which motherboard manufacturer made this part so it's hard to say I had to go off of either the two of those. So I test 1 DIMM socket and it continued past 67 and a successful BIOS beeping. It seems convincing that it is from ASUS, when I get into the OS, the motherboard code says AA. GIGABYTE says it's 'reserved', ASUS says it's transitioned to the OS, so it appears to be based off them. The goal for me was to get this thing up and running. I had to use a cheap 512mb Radeon card as the only low profile card I had at hand, come to realize that it wasn't seated.....make sure you double check little things like this, I almost wanted to return it because I wasn't getting any display.I quickly flashed a win7 image on a blank 2.5in SSD and was able to install it successfully. I then added another RAM stick to run it at dual channel at the very least for now. If I add the other two to make quad channel, it would spit at me code 67. Not sure if it even runs that frequency memory or one of the slots may be defective, either the two. I'm calling it a day for now and just keep it running as it is.Honestly, I would give it 5 stars : this 2011-3 board is really cheap compared to others in market. However, there was no manual included and the board is literally unbranded. It has ASUS POST codes on it so that's the most i know about it.. I would keep it a 5 star rating but I couldn't get it to support a 4x8gb RAM configuration. It’s honestly one piece of work.4 stars. Not to dissuade. I wish there was more info on it.
