Emily richards review states that sureflap won't honor the 3 year warranty if the product is purchased through amazon. is this true?

I have 3 cats and have owned 5 of these feeders. They’re great, however 3 of them have broken almost exactly 3 years after buying them. The company has replaced one for me. At nearly $200 a pop now, they’re getting just too costly for me to replace and I’m going to look into alternative feeders for my current broken one, and hope that my other 2 last awhile.

What is the food volume capacity?

I can fit 2 5.5oz cans of wet food into the bowls.

I have a 24 lb cat and a 6 lb dog. Is anyone using this device for their dogs, and if so, how effective is it? Are they scared by the sensor at all?

I bought it for my 5lb chihuahua. She’s not scared of it but it took a few days in the training mode (explained in directions that come with it) for her to understand it. Her ears touched the rim as she ate and Just seemed a bit big for it. She’s a bold dog so I can see a nervous dog being even more uncomfortable/scared. I wound up using it for my cat because my dog didn’t use it much.

Will it work with rechargeable batteries?

Yes. I use eneloop AA batteries with C size sleeves and it works great.
