You need blue line.
This line ties knots well, and lays on the spool as well as any line I have used, but the best part is the ability to see it clearly out of the water. It fluoresces as if it was internally lit yet it disappears completely in the water. I fish in northeast Minnesota and the water is incredibly clear, yet the line cannot be seen once submerged. It stretches quite a bit so you will need to decide for yourself if this is a feature you prefer or wish to avoid. The 8lb test is strong and when I have managed to hook the bottom, I believe it is quite strong for its weight rating based on how hard I need to pull to break the line or defeat my knot.Pretty subjective info here, I know, but the color of the line makes it so easy to manage the line out of the water while tying knots, etc, that I love it for that alone. Stren has a few rebates from time to time so check the net and get as much as $2 per spool back or a nearly free hat with rebate coupons from Stren website. Stop reading reviews and go fishing.

Simply the Best!
This is the best fishing line I have ever used, smoother casting, farther casts and it is visable to the fisherman and invisable to the fish.

STREN LOW VIS GREEN
I have used this product for years, and have had excellent results.1. The main reason I use it is fish can not see it very easily; or I have great catch results with it.2. It has excellent memory capabilities.3. The test strength is better than what it is rated at.4. The price has been right for years and still is.5. With a bait cast reel, bird nests are common and the great memory of this line keeps this from being an issue. It will not lock up.I am using the 10 lb right now and it held a 30 inch spot tail bass (red drum) for twenty minutes as I played the fisharound all kind of obstacles finally landing him. I dragged that fish up a 20 degree incline bank andthe line held. This fish ran about 60 yards on me before I got some control on him.I will not use any other brand of line except Stren!

It was in stock
I prefer Trilene, but the supply chain appears to still be empty for many products. Stren has, in the past, not lasted long for me (gets brittle fast) so I'l hope for the best. To be fair, I landed the biggest silver crappie of my life (16 inches) today after a battle in a submerged brush pile. The line didn't chafe or break, so if it lasts as long as Trilene I may come back and add a star.

The Standard for Monofilament
Stren Clear Blue Fluorescent has been the only monofilament on my reels for years. I typically fish reservoirs on the Tennessee River system (which are not particularly clear water) so I have always preferred the Clear Blue Fluorescent color, because it is much easier for me to see the line compared to the regular "clear" color. I had some bad experiences with Trilene years ago, and have not varied from Stren for monofilamnet since. Line is like most everything else in the fishing world in that it boils down to a matter of preference, but I have always been satisfied with Stren Original monofilament. The only other fishing line that I can say I have the same affinity for would be Spiderwire Stealth in the braided line. I have yet to find a fluorocarbon line that I do not have some complaint about. To be fair, though, I have not spent a tremendous amount of time fishing fluorocarbon since I do not fish a lot of extremely clear water. (I can say the Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon is basically crap, though.) Below I have listed some of my preferences in line/size for various techniques (be advised that Bill Dance I am not, and this review is worth exactly what I was paid for it, which was nothing).Crankbaits = 10 lb Stren monoBottom Bumping for Schooling Catfish = 12 lb Stren mono or 50 lb Spiderwire StealthBottom Bumping for Wintertime Sauger = 10 lb Stren mono or 40 lb Spiderwire StealthCork Rigs for Spawning Channel Cats = 8 lb Stren or 30 lb Spiderwire StealthTexas Rig for Bass = 50 lb Spiderwire StealthCarolina Rig for Bass = 40 lb Spiderwire StealthAlabama Rig for Bass = 80 lb Spiderwire StealthSpoons for Schooling Stripe (White Bass) = 10 lb Stren monoIn-line spinners (Rooster Tails) = 10 lb Stren (baitcast) or 8 lb Stren (spinning)Topwaters for Rockfish (Hybrid Stripers) = 17 lb Stren monoBuzzbaits = 17 lb Stren monoSpinnerbaits = 14 lb Stren monoLipless Crankbaits (Rattletraps) = 10 lb Stren monoMost versatile (baitcast) = 10 lb Stren mono

Fish are 100% Colour Blind !
Fish are 100% colour blind, but 99% of most fisherman are not colour blind but are ignorant of this fact. All Makers of Fishing Line try in vain every year to get you to belief that their fishing line is 100% invisible to fish.Just so you know. All Fish are colour blind so bright pink or red lines will have zero effect on scaring any of the fish away. This bright yellow colour allows you to see exactly what direction and where your bait is at all times, and is super great for 2AM night casting in rapids on rivers or at dams for Walleyes. You can see the line direction at night time with no help from electric or battery lights, and with just the aid of the normal moonlight. The 17 lb. test is my favourite gauge for baitcasting, and is on all four of my bait-caster reels ( Shimano 250 Digitals ) and will bring in any fish under 40 lbs easily. If I snag a stump or a dead head, I just tighten the drag and just pull and crank what ever the lure is hooked on to the boat. It's as simple as that my friends. I have used this line for 40 years plus and have caught 100's of trophy Size fish of every species during my lifetime to date.Try a box in 17 lb. test and in this the yellow colour, and it will instantly make you a believer !

Stren Fishing Line
I've used this line for trout fishing for more than 40 years and it works great. I've caught thousands of fish over the years on it, and will keep on buying this line as long as I'm still able to fish.

THE BEST
I have used Stren for my salmon fishing for around 20 years. It is by far the best line for use on larger rivers such as the Tay and the high visibility allows improved control and presentation. Unfortunately, it is not easy to obtain in the UK nowadays but the problem was solved by buying on Amazon (product was sourced in USA) It would be good if they had the 15lb bs available
