In-depth and clear explanations
I LOVE this book. I'm majoring in molecular biology so I have read a lot of chemistry-related textbooks. I have 3 for organic chemistry, and this is hands down my favorite of them all. The book starts with information to help you figure out which things to memorize and which things to learn the system so you don't have to memorize. The authors go in depth in their descriptions to ensure you truly understand the concepts. Their descriptions are also very clear, which makes the material this book more accessible than a lot of other books. If you're looking to teach yourself organic chemistry with a strong in-depth understanding, this is the book I would get.

Great Examples!
Renting this book through Amazon is really the only way to go. I didn't have to spend $150 buying or renting the book from the book store, and I came on Amazon and rented it for $50 with the shipping. You really can't go wrong with that. The book is really good, it has a lot of examples throughout the chapters. I mean its organic chemistry its not the easiest read, but with all the examples it really helps you out. At the end of each chapter they do a really good job of summing up the important points and give good examples. This book saved my life while taking organic chemistry, so it is definitely something you should consider.

Organic Chemistry by Wade (8th edition) Review
I took Organic Chemistry once before and my previous classes used Organic Chemistry by Francis Carey (8th edition). My Organic Chemistry classes this year, however, used Organic Chemistry by Wade (8th edition). Compared to the other book, Wade's book is a much easier read. The chapters range from 30 - 60 pages each, and take a while to read, but they are much easier to understand compared to the other book. I felt that Wade's book explained the concepts in a clear, concise manner, and the order of the topics within the book also made more sense. The chapters are organized so that they begin with naming, followed by properties (boiling points, melting points, hydration constants, etc), then syntheses and reactions. I liked that at the end of every chapter, there was a summary of the reactions covered, even some from previous chapters. I used to really dislike organic chemistry, but this book helped me better understand the topics covered in my class.

Check with your Prof. to see if you need the 8th edition
Bought this and the solutions manual for the ungodly sum that textbooks cost. Then I got to class and my Prof. told us that even though the syllabus says to get the 8th, the 7th or 6th edition would do too.I ended up returning it and saving a bunch of money by getting the 6th edition for around $40.Honestly just get an older version. After comparing the 6th edition the books are nearly identical. Maybe 1 or 2 problems differ per chapter, but it's still organic chemistry, the only difference is they used a different molecule to show the same type of reaction, you won't miss out on anything.Unless your Prof. absolutely insists upon the 8th edition, skip it and go vintage.

with good illustrations and diagrams
I needed this textbook for an Organic Chemistry class and after two semesters, I found that this book was typically very clear explaining concepts, with good illustrations and diagrams, and problem solving hints for the in-chapter problems. If you register at MasteringChemistry online, you will have access to a digital text as well as power point presentations for each chapter that introduce the main topics. I ordered the book new, and it and access to MasteringChemistry came as ordered and I was glad to save some money vs. purchasing at the college bookstore.

Very helpful
I love to have access to the extra materials from the website, as well as the online book. The online book is great because you can highlight in it and add bookmarks - this way you never have to lug the giant text with you all over campus all day. But I still like to have a physical copy of the book because I keep them forever (they are usually useful again at some point), and I also think it's easier to read the physical copy as opposed to the digital one.

Very bad experience with seller.
Product nothing as described, see just a few of the uploaded pictures. I took over 20 pictures then stopped, overwhelming to say the least. I had to send multiple emails to receive my refund after paying to return the textbook. Very bad experience with seller.

Terrible Appearance, Great book
The book wasn't in great condition but that was okay because I didn't expect it to be. The spine of the book is held together by unbelievable amounts of tape but that doesn't really bother me because I needed the book for its information, not its appearance. This book is a lifesaver in my O Chem 2 class right now.
