InterLock Crosstown Post Bicycle Lock

First off I have to say I had tinkered with the idea for something like this about two years ago after having my entire seat and attached post stolen. I got as far as cutting a cable lock in half and spot welding the ends together, then inserting them into a drilled out seat tube, It was never anything I imagined producing for sale. I sure wish i had followed through with producing it, because (aside from making some $$$ off the idea) this is truly a great concept finally realized, and much cleaner then anything you can make on your own!I bought this after purchasing my Trek DS 8.5. With my past experiences in theft, i wanted to invest in something more than a beefy U-lock. I already have locking skewers for the wheels, but the quick snatch and grab thefts are what ive had issues with in the past, and like i said, and I wanted to limit the amount of gear i would have to carry on my commute every day. In browsing around, i came across the Interlock website and just had to give it a try, since it was so reminiscent of a past project of mine. It really does work flawlessly, and looks great, especially if you have a matte finish bike like mine.The cable cleanly stores away so all i have to carry with is my U-lock and key for total protection. I typically have a Kryptonite Evo lock that is used to secure the front wheel and/or frame to an anchor, and the Interlock I will use pulled downward to link the seat post to the frame and rear wheel. It is advertised as being usable as a primary lock which a shackle is not usable, though personally i would not rely on this as your only lock due to the cable being on the thin side. Like you're always told, if someone really wants to steal something, all you can do is make more deterrents, and even Interlock recommends using this in conjunction with other locks if in a high theft area.The 27mm version fits my Trek perfectly without shims, though as you can see from the picture i posted, it will not fully retract into the post as in the advertisement. I have a X-large 22.5" frame and was surprised to see this with the long seat tube on my bike, though Trek's are known for having a sharp drop on their headtubes, so i would not hold this against the product, as im sure most bikes would not have this issue. The only thing i would suggest is a thicker cable on the next revision (though again, it is not meant to be your primary lock). Otherwise its a great product, with great execution of an idea, and im glad to have it on my new bike.

Very nice way to temporarily lock up my Electra Townie. I use this only to run in a store, not for long-term parking, since the cable is not tremendously thick. Very convenient, and it's always with my bike, so I have no excuse not to lock it up. For long term, I've got a U-lock,I've very pleased with this purchase.

Great invention. I gave it 4 stars because the lower cables plastic coating gets sliced when retracted by a sharp edge.

Have been using this for 1800. miles,Seat stem bolt just broke.No problems other than that.

Great idea but post is too skinny. Didn't work at all.

ちょっと変わったワイヤーロックとして話題になったINTERLOCKがamazonで気軽に買える様になったので取り付けてみました。ワイヤーの長さに制限があったりシートポストを交換する必要があるのでどんな自転車にも合うという訳ではないですが、5LINKS2との相性はかなりいいです。ワイヤーを収納した際にシートポストの下にはみ出る構造になっていますが、5LINKS2ではシートポストの少し下の部分にパーツが存在しますので1つめの写真の様に根元まで完全に収納することは出来ません。ただ走行中もこれで邪魔になることは特になく、実用上は問題ありません。重量はワイヤーを含んでいる分オリジナルのシートポストより重くなりますがINTERLOCKのシートポスト自体が重い訳ではないのでバーターでしょう。5LINKS2独自の使い方としてシートポストを簡単に倒す事が出来ますので、ワイヤーの長さが短く近くに縛り付ける場所が無くても2つめの写真の様に折り畳んでフレームやタイヤを巻き込んでロック出来ます。こうすることでシートポストを外して盗まれる危険性が減る事と、走行不能な見た目からも盗難意欲を少しでも削げるのでは無いかと期待しています。さらに5LINKS2の場合は完全に折り畳んだ状態で柱に本体毎ワイヤーでロックしてしまう事も出来ます。INTERLOCKの弱点でもあるワイヤーの長さが短い事をカバーした運用がいろいろ出来そうです。
