Excellent full color images throughout.
As a long time illustrator myself, I really enjoyed looking at Tom Lovell's work, an artist I admire. He was part of a group of oil painters who always seemed to come up with new design angles for the magazine spreads. Lovell did quality renderings using opaque paint and could actually draw well, unlike a lot of contemporary illustrators today. Before the big move toward concept-heavy illustration, which is unfortunately still being pushed in art schools today, there were a number of excellent figure artists who turned to illustration to make a decent living. Lovell was one of the best and very consistent. His fine art was even better, working without the pressure of deadlines. It would have been nice to see more of his later work in this book. The pages are filled with large, high-quality, full color images, which is a credit to the designer/publisher who must realize that visual people want to buy art books with large images, not filled with more copy than pictures. Good work speaks for itself. For those not into art but love seeing interesting imagery - with some illustration books, like this one, you can get a feel for US history and how advertising and editorial work influenced our lives. I highly recommend this book and will also check out some of the other illustration books in the series. I would love to buy a book on Sundblom, Mark English, or the earlier illustrators who handled oil paint , Walter Everett, JW Smith, or a larger color book on Dulac, which seems way overdue. Thanks!

About time Tom Lovell got a little love and this book offers it in spades
Another Grand Slam for Illustrated Press and Daniel Zimmer. About time Tom Lovell got a little love and this book offers it in spades. Illustrated Press publications fill up a whole shelf in my ever expanding library and this latest addition is among the best. The clarity and brilliance of the images is more than I could have hoped for. I think even those familiar with Lovell's work will find a number of never before seen treasures. Mr. Zimmer is to be thanked for keeping these illustration artists' work alive and available - nobody does it better. Anyone who has the slightest interest in the Golden Age of illustration should place an order before this limited printing is exhausted. Many of Zimmer's out of print publications now command staggering prices. Glad I had the good judgement to have ordered each and every one. How about Henry Clive, Coles Phillips or Haddon Sundblom as subjects for your next volume? Whoever it is - please reserve a copy for me!

This company really treats the books you buy with care.
Okay to start with, Tom Lovell is an incredible artist, and this book really shows him off. The printing is done very well and is just a book overall book to have or a lover of art or any artist. But what made me so impressed by was the packaging. I have bought books from Amazon before and they were packaged very badly and showed up damaged. This book was packaged so well, that if it would ever get damaged it wouldnt resemble a book anymore. You may not buy this book but you should definingly do business with these guys in the future.

Reliure solide. Bonne qualité d'impression. Je recommande ce livre.
