The existential bliss found in knowing all bolts are tightened to exactly 5Nm...
I recently bought a carbon-fiber road bike, and over-tightening a bolt on a carbon frame can quickly become a very expensive mistake. As virtually every single bolt on a road bike is designed to be tightened to 5Nm, on a buddy's recommendation I grabbed one of these.I had no idea owning a torque key could be such an existentially satisfying experience. Saddle height adjustments ended with a satisfying "click," rather than the ever-present fear of a sickening "crunch." Once the bike was dialed in, I moved on to the rest of my condo, checking tightness on guitar locking nuts, light switches, refrigerator doors, hinges... The key happened to be perfectly compatible with the attachments for a socket screwdriver I also owned (I'm sure no coincidence), so I had a wide range of different types of fasteners at my disposal I could tighten to exactly 5Nm.Unfortunately, I quickly ran out of things to tighten, and a last-ditch desperation Amazon search for "things I can tighten with a 5Nm torque key" turned up no results. Still, that is no fault of this fine tool.I agree with a previous reviewer that the shape is a little cumbersome in tight spaces, and for example tightening the screws holding water bottle cages in place would be a little tricky (I didn't try, as I'm not worried about those being under tightened so I didn't really crank them down). But, on the measure this is really a rather ingenious solution for cyclists, and for the price is a no brainer.

This works well but not quite as nice as the Park Tool
I had a chance to stop by my LBS and try their small hand held torque wrench by Park. Then when this one arrived I got to compare. First off this one does the job, no problems but it is no nearly as polished as the Park one. I guess for the price you'd expect that. Also, the Park tool is something that I am sure the shop uses on a daily basis, how often do we check torques on our bikes? Maybe four times a year?Let me point our specific differences:1) The handle on the Park Tool is larger and more confortable. The Richey Tool is small and a bit difficult to use with one hand. I did it but you really have to put on some pressure because the lever arm is not as long. Not impossible but not as nice. Both release at 5nm so yes, they both get the job done.2) The machined bits, I used the 4mm, are machined really nice on the Park tool and a little less nice on the Richey. Again, my tool did not slip but the Park tool 4mm bit felt like it fit the bolt head a little better. More secure fit. Actually vey secure with no "play" at all.Other than that, for what I need it for, great little product for the price. It will get the job done. If you think you will be doing this on a somewhat regular basis I would recommend stepping up to the Park.

Does the job but not great for regular use
I got this for my road bike last year as I didn’t want to spend a lot for a torque wrench It gets the job done but if you need to use it frequently look elsewhere. It’s well made but the design makes it hard to use as there’s no handle to use to get to the desired torque setting. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a nicer wrench but using it for more than a couple of bolts at a time would likely end up making your hands sore.Overall it met my needs and saved me money compared to nicer tools like Park but the design of the tool is really lacking which is why I’m only giving it 3 stars.

A not so cheap but effective shortcut.
Any cyclist working on carbon bikes is concerned about over tightening. This is a pretty cool tool to ease any concerns. It is not the cheapest item nor hardly the most complex at the other end of the spectrum but it is just about perfect for the avid cyclist.

Here's a description
I got this because there are so many bolts on bicycles that need to be torqued to this exact number. And because proper torque is critical for carbon, I have friends that now always carry one of these types of tools in their saddlebags, rather than just an ordinary multitool. The handle is 2" wide, and the tool is 3" long. It weighs 84 grams.I checked this tool against a 1/4"-drive beam-type torque meter that I bought at the same time. The two matched at 5 N-m, so I'm confident it is accurate. Of course, with spring-type torque meters the reading can change over time, so I'll be sure to check it against the beam-type meter every once in a while.

Given the compact form factor, leverage is difficult to ...
Given the compact form factor, leverage is difficult to apply, which makes 5Nm seem excessive for CF bits. This is comforting in some regards and will allow you to really understand what 5Nm means when hand tightening things with a normal hex key. I've only gone the full 5Nm on alloy bits thus far (it's 5Nm MAX on cf parts, and you needn't tighten to MAX load if it's not slipping!). You may not need this tool however, if you have a decent understanding of this already, me being a newb I wanted to know.Conversely, for the price; it's quite handy to have all the bits in one place and you get a sanity checker as far as how tight something is getting.

this is a quality tool
I did not give this a 5 because the handle is not wide enough for me. i am 65 and my hand strength is not what it used to be. as per the other reviews, this is indeed a quality tool and is suitable for the vast majority of bikers who do maintenance!

A bit pricey, but it works really well
I thought this was a bit pricey for what you get, but compared with other bike torque wrenches, it's a good deal. It did exactly what I needed (tighted the stem on my bike just right, stop the squeak, leave the carbon fiber fork and handlebars and stem undamaged).

Good little tool
Very sturdy, good quality tool. Clicks once reached the required torque. It’s always in my saddle bag and is perfect for tightening handlebars, seatposts, etc.

Fondamentale .

Consigliata

piccolo e leggero
