A bit disappointing
I'm still relatively new at crocheting but I found my hands cramping when using straight metal hooks, so I purchased a few ergonomic hooks and fell in love. When I found these, I thought they would be perfect for someone like myself based off the reviews I read. However, I have to say that, compared to the Boye hooks I purchased, they are a let down. The hooks feel cheap and the yarn doesn't slide easily on the hook. The grips themselves feel like cheap rubber that is unpleasant to hold, especially compared to the Boye. One of the hooks came with a damaged grip! Most importantly, the rubber around the grip has little extra bits that stick out and catch the yarn, making it split. The case is nice and the extra pieces like the row counter and the clips are useful. The company has been polite and appears to care, but after looking around on Amazon, I could have purchased a similar set for cheaper. The reviews are a bit deceptive, since everyone who gave quality reviews has received a "discounted" set.Perhaps this set would be okay for someone who is either quite new but needs ergonomic grips or someone who isn't picky about quality. But again, they can be found for cheaper.Personally, I am disappointed and will be splurging on a nicer set elsewhere.

Fantastic, impressive uncolored soundstage, excellent build quality and very comfortable
Product arrived in one week with free shipping, sealed and factory new. I was pleased with bundled FiiO mini amp and carrying pouch as an incentive to pay the extra $20 for this limited edition beautiful color scheme. I was debating on investing in another pair of AKG 240's since my 11 year old cans were showing their age with the threadbare cord and badly cracked ear pads. As I mostly do post, and not tracking, I was flexible about purchasing a semi open vs. closed back headset as long as I had better presence and dynamic range, as well as less impedance than my AKG's to drive these phones. The frequency response is wider, and the drivers are bigger, than most of the other professional headphones I've researched in the under $450 price range. WOW, these are fantastic! Gorgeous soundstage with tight, deep bass, clean and realistic reproduced mids and highs without coloration. The "Blue" is actually more like a soft black with a slight dark navy sheen in direct sunlight, and the camel color is reminiscent of the suede caramel leather seats of the Maserati GranTurismo. They look and feel luxurious against the ears with no cartilage fatigue or heavy clamping over hours of continuous usage. And the beautiful thing is that they continue to sound better and better as they burn in over time and condition to settle into that "sweet spot" that every engineer desires. I couldn't recommend a better set of excellent phones for the under $500 price category.

No Artificial Colors or Flavors
What do I mean by the title? Unlike some other high profile and popular headphones, one with a big B (Bose) and the other with a little b (beats), the M50x's are natural. No modifications for extra bass or treble. That only robs you of hearing things you should be by drowning them out from boosting other things. These give you the pure, unaltered sound as the artist intended. That means a lot to me because as a home theater enthusiast, I want to see and hear things as they were meant to be. I want accuracy and clarity in my audio and video devices and these deliver the audio in spades. It reminds me of TV displays in stores. The brightness and contrast are cranked up to get your attention but upon closer inspection, it's not at all realistic. Details are lost, people look sunburned, blacks look grey and it doesn't reflect real life. That's what Bose and Beats are to me. Dial back the settings and you get every detail, accurate colors, levels of shadow and an overall realistic picture. That's the AT M50x's.When searching for my first pair of expensive headphones (I had never spent more than $50) the M50x's consistently came up as the best or one of the best in the under $200 category. $200 was all I was willing to spend. What always caught my attention was the unaltered clarity these provide and so far, I have been very pleased by how well they deliver on that promise. When listening to music, I can clearly focus in on every instrument, every cymbal, every word, chorus and solo. It's a joy to hear my music so clearly and well defined. If other headphones I've used were good, solid standard definition, these are definitely high definition. If you really listen to your music, these headphones are going to help you do that and will make it a much more enjoyable experience. I've used them for movies as well and they really deliver a convincing movie experience. Dialogue is easy to understand, sound effects pack all the right punches, surrounds come through, putting you in the moment and theres nice thumps and booms substituting for subwoofer action. If there's a need to keep the noise down or your going portable, you can have a great movie watching experience with these.Speaking of portability, this isn't your practical, walking around town or going to the gym set. They're big but perfect for home, long trips or any other stationary listening. Sure, you could take them out but it's a pretty big set to have on when you're on the move. I'll use my on-ear Noontec Zoro HD's (which I highly recommend) for that.Build quality is excellent. There's plenty of plastic here but this is a very solid feeling set. The leather on the head band and earpads is soft, comfortable and has an expensive look and feel. The earpads completely cover my ears and form a nice seal, keeping the sound in, preventing excess leaking and keeping outside sounds out. I'm not one of those 8 hour a day wearers but for the duration of a movie, I didn't notice any discomfort. Felt or suade earpads can always be purchased and swapped out if need be. They're also very versatile by how many ways they can contort and collapse for storage. I also like the matching and locking removable cord and spare cords packed in the box. Also packed in was a soft leather pouch in a matching chocolate brown to my set. I bought a hard case to use instead but I could see using it for a short trip or days use elsewhere. I went with the limited edition dark green and brown and they really look nice. The green is a dark forest green, almost black in low light and the brown is a darker chocolate brown, with champagne gold accents on the ear cups and hinges. Aesthetically, this is a very good looking and feeling combination. Like they're more expensive than their price point.I chose this combo from Beach Camera as you get the free case and mini amp for the same price. Shipping was next day and reasonable and packaged well.Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase. I read a lot and watched a lot of videos before making the decision to buy these. It only took a few listens to know that I made the right choice. I know there are other brands of good sounding and well built headphones in the same price range but this combination of high marks by professional and casual reviewers, numerous appearances on top 5 lists, good brand reputation, warranty, build quality, and physical attractiveness made these the set for me. When I give a 5/5 review, it's not for perfection or best available product, it's for a performance and value combination. These meet that combination easily. Highly recommended for music listeners.

Great headphones, great accessories!
Sounds just like I hoped. I've owned a pair of AKG K181s and a pair of Sennheiser Momentums. They were both up to my expectations, but the usefulness and comfort just weren't there. These ATH M50Xs fit my bill.To rate the seller, the added accessories were a big plus (to me). The FiiO E6 Amp is very good at bumping the volume a bit higher, and the EQ is satisfactory. My favorite accessory was the carrying case. It's essentially a camera case, but the ATH M50Xs fit perfectly. I carry my headphones in this case everywhere. If you want the ATH M50X Blues, do not hesitate to buy from Beach Camera.
