Easy to use, easy to calibrate
Let's get this out of the way first, this meter can take up to 3 minutes to display an accurate temperature. That is really the only problem I have had, but it is a consequence of the design, so I can't hold that against it.If you have a cheap, 3-digit TDS meter that was packed in with your pH pen or water filter and you are not just testing how awesome your filter is, get something like this. Those meters are only calibrated to be accurate between 0-500ppm.Out of the case, the meter was 25ppm off. Once it was calibrated, however, I have yet to have a problem. The meter performs within expectations, and is very easy to calibrate for when I eventually need to.On the whole, very solid meter, and I am happy with my purchase.

Great feature set, super easy to use
I bought this to use with my aquarium so I could check the TDS levels of the water (there's really hard water where I live). I'm very glad I spent the extra few bucks for this model over the cheaper models, because I've also used this meter to check the water temperature much more than I thought I would. We've had hot weather this past week and using this meter to quickly confirm the aquarium water isn't getting too hot has proved very convenient. Not to mention that TDS levels are more accurately measured by accounting for the water temperature, so if you want an accurate TDS reading you really should get this meter. So far so good and I'm very happy with this purchase.

Handy item for checking TDS in water
This is a nice item. It works well for my needs and has an easy to read display. The case seems water-proof, not just water-resistant. The measurement prongs are sturdy and there is a bit of plastic frame around the prongs to help protect them from accidental damage or contact with something solid while taking a reading. I really like that this model accounts for and displays the water temperature when giving the TDS number; this means your water doesn't have to be at a specific temperature to get the most accurate reading because the device will adjust the output value.

Nice meter!
This is a very nice little meter.I've been around good test equipment most of my professional life, and I tend to be merciless when it comes to evaluating instruments, even inexpensive devices like this one (when I should know better than to be super critical). So when such a device actually performs beyond my expectations, I notice. This little fella fit the bill. It arrived without incident and powered up right out of the box. Build quality, fit, and finish were excellent. The display is small and is not back-lit, but, hey, it's a $25 instrument.I then measured our tap water (77 ppm) and filtered water from the fridge (40 ppm). The readings were stable and consistent. Expect the reading to drift a bit if the water temperature is different than that of the instrument, because the temperature sensor has to come into equilibrium with the water temperature, and the internal ppm calculation is temperature corrected. When the temperature on the display stops changing, your reading should be stable. To assess the instrument's accuracy, I did the following:I did test with distilled water in a clean cup, and the device correctly read 0 ppm. Nice to see.I also order the 1000 ppm test solution by the same company as well. The instrument is calibrated with a lower solution (342 ppm) at the factory, since this is closer to the 0-200 ppm ratings of typical tap water, but in spite of this, the instrument wound up reading between 999, 1000, and 1001 ppm in the 1000 ppm test solution. Impressive. I did not recalibrate the instrument, since it was already spot on.It did hang one time during a measurement, and would not respond to any push-buttons. I didn't have the patience to wait to see if it would power off and fix the problem, so I pulled the battery out (easy to do), and checked the battery voltage while I was at it. Put the battery back in and it worked fine. Note that you can put the battery in backwards, unfortunately. It won't hurt anything, but the unit will appear DOA. It would be nice if the battery holder were keyed to the body to prevent this. The storage cap for the tip fits well but, surprisingly, isn't vented. If the cap is put on while the probe is still wet, my guess is that moisture will stick around for very long time. They may have a reason for this design, but I wanted to mention it nonetheless.Overall a handy little meter. I would buy it again without a second though. In fact I'm also in need of an inexpensive pH meter, and will have a look at their offerings as well.

Highly inaccurate
I received product earlier than expected. That was the only good thing that happened. It was either calibrated wrong from the get go, or it was not calibrated at all. I purchased the calibration solution to go along with the unit. It was over 300ppm off with the 1000ppm solution. It does not have a place to put a small driver for adjustment like both the instructions and their own web site says it does. So I did some research on my own and found out this is a second generation model. I followed these instructions verbatim. After recalibrating, I came up with the same numbers as before. I was not able to calibrate even tho the unit said I was in calibration mode. This is just not worth my time or money. This unit did not work as advertised. Sad.

Works out of the box
The tester worked out of the box without having to read the instructions. Power on, dip and watch the readings in real time (it also shows the temperature, which was displayed in Celsius, which is what I use, but for those in the US, you'd need to read the instructions to switch to Fahrenheit). The magnetic back for placing it on the fridge is also very convenient. The instructions booklet is clear and informative, which is often a sign of quality by itself.

Buen medidor tds teniendo en cuenta su bajo precio. Una lastima que las instrucciones vengan en inglés. No hay instrucciones en español.
