MK-2 MTG Black-White Traditional Woven Mongkol Hand woven traditional Thai mongkol. A ceremonial headband worn in muaythai during ring entrance and pre-fight Wai Kru routine. Tail colours vary. Traditional meaning of the mongkol: The Mongkol is a type of headgear worn by Muay Thai athletes. The mongkol or mongkon was given after the trainer saw that the student had become an experienced fighter and learned a great deal of knowledge about Muaythai. The Mongkol was never to be place, for any reason, close to the ground (Which is why they are often seen hanging when not in use) or else it would lose its worth. It must be worn during the Wai Kru and should be only handled by the fighter who owns it and their teacher. Reference: Mong Kon. In Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia.
