Thanks Amazon for making good on bad products-- this is one of them. I am happy to get a refund for the 2nd time. -- I thought my first one was a fluke when it fogged up then read way high in temp-- returned it, bought a new one, and ...SAME THING! The idea is wonderful, and the thing worked great for a week. But in the humid atmosphere under the spa cover, in just a few days the digital display in the sensor fogged up, then when I opened it to let it dry out, the electronics were spoiled --the reading was 5 degrees high on the first unit, and 2 .3 degrees high on the 2nd unit. So the failure repeated, and no sense to buy a third one.(unless it was to be kept outside the pool, but why?) Too bad because I liked it, and the price was right. (Same item sells in places at twice the cost!) . I guess the environment is too tough for an inexpensive wireless product-- and I am not risking buying a more expensive one. Oh well, back to a floating thermometer.

I have been using this wireless digital thermometer for about a month and I have been pleasantly surprised at how well it has performed. So far it appears to be fairly accurate and I haven't had any issues with water seeping inside the floating unit. Although, I would advise anyone using this thermometer to apply some silicon lube to the top of the floating unit before screwing it back on to ensure it not only stays dry inside, but so it is easier to unscrew the top when changing batteries. The base unit looks nice on a counter top, or hung on the wall near the door to the pool. It's also great to be able to check the pool temp without leaving the house.**UPDATE**I've been using this thermometer for just about six months and could not be happier, which is why I boosted my rating to five stars. As with any product you buy, if you take care of it and do not abuse it, it will function as designed. Although, I have caught the kids throwing the pool unit around a few times, but it seems no worse for the wear.

I bought this unit in sept 2015, set it up quickly, and was pleased by its look and effectiveness compared to a similar unit that died after three years use. I used it for about 2 months until the pool water was too cold to swim in. I removed the pool temp unit, removed batteries, and set it aside unti the Spring--now. I returned it to the pool about two weeks ago and it worked fine. Two days ago, I realized that the water temp registered on the screen and by the floating unit was way too warm. I removed the floating gauge, opened it up, and found it was leaking and had rusty water in the lower portion which no doubt was responsible for the malfunction. I'm drying it out now and hope it will work. But this shouldn't happen on a unit barely 6 months old. I would not buy this syste again.

This is my favorite pool thermometer. I love to see the temp while I am inside the house. I am not crazy that it shipped from China (or somewhere not USA) but it got here, and it is what I wanted. Just keep it screwed tight to keep the water out of the battery and electronic compartment.

A real P.O.S. Unit completely died within 2 months. Display on receiver is dead. Replaced batteries and nothing. Amazon returns expired 30 days after receipt so no help there. Don't waste your time or money on this piece of crap.

The first one lasted about 4 weeks and stopped working. Contacted Amazon and a new one was sent, but it would not work right out of the box. Got a partial discount from the vender. I have two pieces of crap. These are not reliable units.

Terrible product. I bought 1 and loved it. Lasted maybe 30 days. Too old to return so like a dummy I bought another one. It too failed in less then a week. Save yourself some time & effort and just flush $30 down the toilet.

Wouldn't purchase again. Last about a week and then filled up with water. Dried it out changed the batteries and same thing. I'll go back to my previous brand.
