Does a great job at an affordable price.
I purchased this balun and constructed a 40m horizontal dipole antenna, and I cannot say a single bad thing about it. Does its job like it should and a great price. Only thing I wish was different is it would be cool if it either came with an enclosure or nooelec offered one for it. But hey nothing a little ingenuity can't take care of.

SHORT WAVE!!!
I ran a length of magnet wire off of this and my shortwave reception SKYROCKETED..

it's perfect item like described,
I received this item on time, easy installation, really matches perfect with my long wire antenna, improve every thing in my SDR device, nooelect so good item this is. I recommend to every one this item. low noise reception too. and the must important the quality product great.

Nice unit. GREAT support. Note: the unun functionality of Version 2 is different than Version 1
I bought one of these to match an old shortwave receiver of mine to a "random wire" antenna, expecting it to have the ability to be configured as an auto-transformer the same way that V1 could be. The unit I purchased could not be set up that way - the RF transformer on the board is different. (The RF transformer does not have a center tap the way the V1 transformer did.) That said, you can probably use this to match a balanced and unbalanced line, which my testing seemed to confirm - it just isn't the "typical" autotransformer unun setup that is typically used. When I brought this to the attention of Nooelec, they took a bit of time to research it and get back to me - but they DID research it, which impressed me, and decided to refund my purchase (which was way above and beyond, and not necessary, but much appreciated nonetheless.

Worked really well with Long wire and broomstick antennas
Worked really well with Long wire and broomstick antennas. Used it to feed a long run of low loss coax.

1st had a badly soldered SMA connector. 2nd Works fine multiple emails asking for reviews is not ok.
1st one had a badly soldered SMA connector but the replacement was fine.Bugged twice now via email to leave a review so here I am leaving my honest opinion. Please DO NOT send multiple emails asking for reviews. Once is enough asking again is annoying and will upset customers.

This is not a BALUN. It is an UNUN.
As others have noted, this V2 product is incorrectly labeled and described. It appears the PCB designers (and ad copy writers) thought the primary/antenna coil would be center-tapped. It is not, which makes this an UNUN. That said, it is a well-constructed unit in a convenient form-factor. If you want a BALUN buy the V1 unit. If you want an UNUN, buy this one, the V2. Nooelec, you need to do some research and fix your item name and description.

Good buy
The added connectors come in handy when you move your sdr setup a lot, I tavel with one and this eliminates a lot of my improvising. Works well.

Remember to cut the track if you want an unun!
That's the headline. Make sure you use it in the right configuration. For a random wire antenna you want to aim for a 450 Ohm resistance at your chosen frequency dips, so that it transforms down to 50 Ohm. Don't use a half-wave at a chosen frequency!I am not sure why a 9:1 would be useful as a balun, as a loop would be more 4:1, but if you don't cut the track underneath it stays in a balun configuration. You can also transmit through these, not very much, but you can. 0.25W is the rated maximum for the transformer on the PCB, which is enough for WSPR. I managed to get out quite far with this, but definitely don't push it too high and keep your volume levels down to get the desired power.

Good performance!
Really improved the reception quality of the HF and medium waves. I'm using it with an RTL SDR and now I'm able to receive many more signals than before in low frequencies. Remember that if you are planning to use it with a cheap RTL receiver (like me), you should have a medium wave filter to reduce the interference. The only negative I can see with this product is the missing case. Remember to buy one before exposing it to the harsh weather.
