Cheaper gouaches on the market are such a waste of money. I wanted to use gouache while not ready to invest in Winsor & Newton just yet. I tried another brand & it was a waste of time & money. These are excellent quality -- there is plenty of pigment in these reasonably-priced gouaches & the colors are perfect for mixing into a massive range of colors. Love these paints!

I honestly want my money back. The colors seem to need lots of water to lay down, then they get fairly streaky. There just is no green. And the yellow and blue in this set just dont mix well. None of them really do.. The red is much more vibrant pink than red. The yellow looks like pale mustard.. To be absolutely honest, the amount of paint for the money is fair, but the color pallete doesn't mix well enough to make anything pleasant to look at.

This is a solid basic set of Gouache paint - only six tubes, but you can achieve nearly any color by mixing them. The paint is smooth and buttery in the tube. I water it down to the consistency of skim milk, which allows for precise layering of colors. I also mix a bit of powdered gum arabic with the paint to maximize transparency and to add some gloss to the surface. This is a terrific product for manuscript illumination and miniature painting in particular. Lukas designer Gouache paint is one of the few budget priced sets available that actually gets the job done! Great for students.

the red is more magenta than primary red. I only bought this because my art professor required it for class.
