Where'd You Go Bernadette?

Great film! Quirky character portrayed brilliantly by Cate Blanchett who is one of my favorite actors. Interesting plot, dark humor, interesting interiors. One of my favorite films and I would see it again….I've seen it twice, already.

One of my favorite movies

Cate Blanchett owned the character of Bernadette- she really brought who I fell in love with in the book to life. The actress who plays the daughter is also very good . Do yourself a favor and read the book first - it’s phenomenal. The movie doesn’t quite live up to it but it’s still very enjoyable.

Clean!! No inappropriate scenes. Very enjoyable!! Recommend buying it- you’re gonna want to watch it again! Such a sweet movie!

I call this a "surface movie". It doesn't have a lot of substance to it, but it's a pleasant enough distraction from life. The unfortunate thing is, this movie COULD have had more substance and gone so much deeper, especially with Cate Blanchett and Richard Linklater at the helm. But the script fell flat. There was no interesting character or relationship development. Editing was choppy. Dialogue abruptly cut-off at times. Despite Cate Blanchett's stellar performance (she saves this movie from being a complete dud), the beautiful set design, and the amazing location backdrops, the movie took us nowhere and was highly predictable. Even the promo poster fell flat -- looks like Anna Wintour and not Cate Blanchett with some sad, sophomoric vector art in the background. Odd choice of design. The coolest thing about the movie were the drawings at the end. Sadly, I purchased the movie - though I feel tricked into doing so. I could have sworn I hit the "rent" button (was there even a rent button??) But that is a gripe of another color.

If you like off beat kooky artistic characters this movie is great. It’s not a beleivable storyline but once you let go of that it’s wildly entertaining!

I wouldn’t call it a comedy per se but there are a few moments. It’s mostly a drama but Cate Blanchett has another stellar performance!! Some supporting casts were a bit underwhelming. However, the overall flick was consistent and mostly well-paired. Kristen Wigg was great too but not as comedic a performance you’d expect. It’s more subtle as the annoying, judging, overboard, neighbor. Oh and a few greats make it into a few scenes. Nice to see such a varied cast of actors.Anyway, it’s worth watching and didn’t mind the few commercials that come w/ the freevee format thru Prime Video. I’m not going to go thru the scenes & spoil it tho. However, I will say that actually liked it better than Tár overall; though her performance in that movie was intense!! That movie wasn’t as cohesively done & ended flat. Just a personal opinion…maybe that was the intent but it was disappointing.

I've watched this a few times and enjoy the story.Acting is great and plot is relatable - definitely worth a spin if you haven't seen it and enjoy drama films.
