So Close to Being the Sh*t, Y'all Don't Even Know

This was a super fun read. From her beginnings to the glow of Hollywood, this was a great behind the scenes peek of someone who did a complete 180 to follow her dreams and worked hard to make them happen. Retta seems like someone who would be an awesome, fun, supportive friend, and reading her book has left me craving a girl's night with a little champagne and a lot of laughs.

I really didn't know much about her until Good Girls which I thought she was amazing in. This was a quick, fun and enjoyable read and funny! She's funny without trying. Quick and enjoyable read and would surely recommend.

Best friend in my head is honest and hilarious, just as you'd expect Retta to be. It's an enjoyable, quick read, perfect for that plane or train ride.

Retta's literary debut is a page-turner that you'll enjoy sharing with friends and colleagues. Read it! You'll be reluctant to put the book down. Trade updates with your book club about favorite chapters , and lol together in recalling her stories and references to Parks Rec, live-tweeting TV shows (my personal fav was her Downton Abbey commentary), and of course, all things LA Kings and Hamilton. Retta's combination of intelligence, warmth, talent and humor that are unique to her acting accomplishments, are highlighted in this book. From her early days in stand up comedy and live shows on the college circuit, to forging her own path in Hollywood—Retta shows us that belief and pursuit of one's dreams are as meaningful as the reward itself, maybe more so (with the exception of the Hermes Birkin, haha).

I watched her on its always sunny and knew she would be huge star with her subtile comedy - she is a beautiful queen who keeps it real and makes sure to stay grounded ! finishing this book chapter by chapter I had no desire to rush through it as I love everything she does , so I did it like episodes of her new hit TV SHOW good girls now on season 4 (and the most relevant show on tv besides pose) ! Buy this book and you will learn more than you ever knew ! RETTA QUEEN FOREVER !!!! B

Great, fun read from Retta! It always a great read to find out how someone got into the business and beat the odds. I always thought on Parks and Rec she was mysterious and always wondered why she didn't get more lines. I hope there's book two coming to talk about Good Girls (and the show gets un-cancelled please).

I read a lot of memoirs. This one fell a little short. The first third of the book was kinda difficult for me to get through as I found myself disliking Retta. She came across as narcissistic and obsessed with money and things. However, towards the second two thirds of the book, I got a better feel for her. She has a whole chapter about her love for the LA Kings hockey team and that was such a pure chapter. It was all about bringing people together for a shared love of the team. I'm glad I listened to it as I love Parks and Rec but it wasn't my favorite memior which is why I give it 3/5.

I've been a fan of Retta for quite some time and this book just solidifies the reasons why. She's hilarious and her stories are so interesting.

Hilarious Book!

It's a fun, good summer read, even if you didn't watch Parks and Rec.
