High quality DeWalt tool - VERY portable!
I use this in my shop but it would also make an excellent slide miter saw for cutting dimensional lumber on site. My only complaint with this unit is that it does not have a depth stop - something for which I had a need on a small saw. Nevertheless I recommend this - it will cut a 2 x 6 - it is very light and very portable and very well-made! I just wish it had an adjustable depth stop.

Great price great saw
Best saw I have ever bought. Light weight and portable, also has so much power. Great price too couldn’t find it cheaper anywhere else. Highly recommend

A must tool for the DIYer!
Very good tool! A must have for the DIYer for finish work. It's a Dewalt so you know what you are getting as far as quality but even then, I was surprised at how good it cuts plus the laser line is a game changer. Unlike other miter saws I have; the dust collector works well too! I have primarily used for finish work but have cut some dimensional lumber (2x4s & 2x6s) and it seemed to work just fine, but I don't think I would use it for a large framing/building project.

Great addition to a small shop
I've lived with an old Delta chop saw and decided to upgrade to something more portable and accurate. I preferred cordless and did not want to spend the cash or have the weight of the 12" saw. This saw fits nicely in a small shop where I cut mainly smaller pieces or make furniture. I did not need something for wide boards or 4x4s. It comes ready to use right out of the box and is intuitive, requiring little reading. It comes with a tool for adjusting and this clamps on the tool where it can easily be found. I changed to a 60-tooth blade ($22) for the finest cuts. The motor sounds exactly like the 20 Volt circular saw (probably is) and has a shadow line that you line up with the cut. This works OK but is a little hard to see in daylight. It does everything I wanted with only one complaint. The picture shows the clamp that fits very loosely in a slot on the back and swivels a bit to accommodate irregular surfaces. The pad is loosely attached to a threaded rod but catches when tightening, making it very difficult to clamp securely. I abandoned this and just use a small clamp. I think the manual is 60% safety disclaimers which discourages me from reading it. I've used other people's chop saws and this one seems simpler to use. There is a lot of aluminum and plastic so I wouldn't think this would take a lot of beating in the field but it suits my purposes well. It does not seem to drain the battery nearly as fast as a circular saw. I would guess I could use this all day in my shop before recharging a 4 ah battery. I wish I had purchased this a couple years ago.

Wanted to send back but didnt
I kind of wanted to cancel or return. Then I recieved and tried it out.... it is now found itself in my everyday pack out and is probably one of my favorite buys when it comes to powertools that I lug around from job to job... Love this saw it's very handy for 2x6 - 1x2 cutting.. only thing it can't do is large crown or wide base and 2 by 6 is about its biggest dimensional lumber I use it for so very useful. Cuts straight and has shadow line

Very portable
So far I love this saw. Of course it’s not for bigger crown molding. Can’t cut 4” material standing up right. But the Dewalt dependability is there and it’s great for smaller trim jobs and kitchen remodeling. Runs forever on a 4amp battery, but recently I got a 60 volt battery and it’s great. Degree stops are accurate and dependable. Great value for the money

Great Miter saw. 5 Amp battery is good for 30 cuts in hard wood. Easy to use. Great saw
I live on a large farm area and needed a miter saw. The advise was to get a corded model, but I often need to do a trim or cut on a fence board and may not be in the area of a cord. And, I hate running 50-100 yards of orange cord for a simple cut. This one has all the reasons I buy Dewalt. And yes, I realize that the batteries are all proprietary and can't be used on any other system. And you therefore are hooked to Dewalt. But, owning one of the standard saws, vac, radio, light, jigsaw, planer, other Dewalt items, the quality is great and I have lots of batteries. This saw is ready to go. I did get the Dewalt sawhorse and it clicks on it in 1 second. Solid and light weight. Then, pop in a 5 amp battery and I'm good for just about any cut I need.My only note is that it is limited to about an 8 inch board. A 10 inch board exceeds the throw of the saw. My help tells me to raise the board for the final cut. I just flip it over.If you're looking for a great saw, easy to use, well made, and doesn't need a cord. This is it.If you're going to be putting up an entire frame house, try corded. In my experience, Dewalt has once again made a quality item.
