IOGEAR GWFRSDU2 MediaShair 2 Wireless Media Hub, Travel Router, SD Card Reader, USB Reader and Power Station with Built in Wi-Fi Network

I bought this device so that I could easily copy videos, documents and music from a Windows computer to an SD card or thumb drive and access them on an iPhone 8. So far that's working quite well using smaller (8 and 16 Gb) SD cards and thumb drives; I havent tried it with larger ones. But I have discovered that the function which allows copy-pasting of the files onto the phone doesn't work for music (.mp3) files, though it works for other file types (e.g. .pdf). I've made sure the phone's access settings for music are ON for the MediaShair 2 app, but still cannot copy in that direction. IOGear support says the app is only designed for IOS up ot version 9, and my phone is up to date with version 11, so that may be the problem -- but unfortunately, IOGear says the MediaShair 2 is out of production and they have no plans to update the app.

ok started to use it setting it up no problem and connecting to it works great the wifi partusing the usb to ad a drive to it great connection but a little slowthe SD part wont let me see the disk in it the led for the SD comes on but don't show me the drive in the web browsertry to charge my phone with it with in 10 min the red light came on telling me it needed to be charged and for sure the battery was not empty

I'm a Sonos user who was looking to connect a USB drive to my network to expose my ripped CD library. This little device does the job transparently and perfectly. I had to add a USB charger (the version1 device is a plugin device, this one is designed as a traveler, a slight ding for anyone hoping to use it at home) since the battery does discharge pretty quickly in constant use, but otherwise, this device is a great solution.

It works and is not difficult to figure out. However, it is a pretty limited device. Might come in handy on a trip. Don't expect to have an easy-to-use local wireless server. It's not a substitution for a plugged-in hard drive.

So, I'm one of those people that doesn't write reviews unless I had a problem. The website and label on the package says it works with SDXC cards up to 2 TB in capacity. So I bought a 128 GB SanDisk Ultra SDXC card to go with it, and it doesn't work. Don't try to get a firmware update... there is none as of July 2015. IOGear tech support says they have tested and it works only up to 64 GB. So I bought a 64 GB SanDisk Ultra SDXC card... it doesn't work with that either. It would be really great if the manufacturer could POST A LIST OF THE CARDS ACTUALLY TESTED WITH THE PRODUCT. It works fine with a 16 GB card I pulled out of my camera. Should I keep it or return it?Maybe someday they'll release a software update will enable the product to meet the specs.

I love this item however I agree with others it us not clear that this does not work with SD 64GB or SD 128GB which I brought both and can't use. This needs to be to allow any 64GB and 128 GB to work then it will be a great buy. Still enjoy using it but needs improvements.

5h work provided by internal battary with connected external hard drive. Speed broadcasting is enough. Micro cd socket support the card up to 64 GB

The app It says it's outdated when you open it and may not work It works but it sucks Miss files basically not worth it. battery only lasted one charge and then would not charge afterwards Love the concept would have been great would have served my needs no instructions really inside it for what's what would not recommend anybody

Good value for money

For those who say it won’t work with 128 Gb SD cards, I have not had a problem. I have a 128 Gb in there right now (and it’s a generic one too!). This device bridges the gap between iPad/iPhone and a laptop or desktop. File management was always the issue. Paired with an app like File Browser which can access SMB NAS shares, you’ve essentially got copy paste move of files just like in windows or Mac.Just a hint however, I thought my device was defective as I could not get it to find the hard drives I tried. I thought it was the cable, or the drive but switched them out then came to the conclusion it must be a defective USB port. But it would give power to the drive and also work with USB sticks. Eventually I found a third party site which stated it only works with FAT or NTFS formatted drives. The ones I tried were exFAT. Problem solved. Now my 2 Tb Seagate backup plus slim works flawlessly. Would have been nice for IO Gear to actually have that stated somewhere. I even called their tech support and was told that it might be the drive needs too much power or it’s defectve. They didn’t even mention what drivers for formatting it supports and you won’t find that info in the user manual either. So for USB drives only FAT or NTFS. And SD cards that I have tried from 64 to 128 Gb work no problem!

tanto en Android como en iOS la app para acceder al dispositivo esta desactualizada por lo que desde iOS puedes acceder a cualquier disco o memoria que conectes, pero no podrás intercambiar archivos con el. mientras que en Android jamas conecta con el dispositivo que conectes al aparato. Lastima que el fabricante haya abandonado la app

Don’t seem to be maintaining the software for new ios updates. So useless brick except as an expensive power bank.
