Micro USB to USB Retractable Sync Charger Cable Pack of 5

Retractable charging/data USB cables never last. They all break eventually from always being pulled. But they are convenient and eliminate the clutter of wires in and around my dash. I like them but not for $9.99 each. Five cables for this price is perfect. I get the convenience and less clutter with enough backups to last for years! OK! For under five bucks I'll try them.They came in faster than expected and good packaging. I was surprised in that the wires are flat and not the flimsy feeling thin round wires I've seen some have. The wires seem very sturdy and are flat. The case feeds them to each side of the open reel. They open to about 39" fully unrolled. To retract them I just pulled them out all the way gently, then using a gentle tug they retracted smoothly. to retract smoothly.I bought these for my three vehicles but I'll have to order five more because when I tested them inside from one of my wall wart AC chargers, I realized they make even more sense inside as mobile. Instead of three foot wires coiled with a wire wrap or loosely dangling where I only need five or six inches to charge, these clean up my charging areas. I now leave them on my chargers in several rooms and no more clutter! They look much neater. The build quality and engineering is surprising. The low price makes these an exceptional value.Update 8/27/2014All of my first five worked perfectly. My friends told me every brand they bought broke in a few months. My old, military bud has owned several brands and advises I pull the flat wires to extend and retract, rather than pull by the plastic plug ends, and they will last longer. The opposite of what we do with wall AC plugs. I actually did order another set and they came in early too, they came in about a week or so. Unless you only use Apple products, with proprietary plugs that cost more each by two or three times, than a five pack of these do, these are a must have. Yes, they will break sometime. So does everything. Entropy is at work on all creation as it evolves and expands. Definitely good value.

Three out of five cables I received in the order can be used to sync my Amazon Kindle (through a 2.0 hub I have connected to my computer). The other two could be used in a different port (a 3.0 port), and I can use them with my Nexus 7, but the Kindle fails to be recognized by my Windows computer after repeated attempts. The charge light is lit so at least that will work. I didn't need five cables so this isn't a big loss, but I wonder how long they will last. I plan to be very careful with them when I extend and retract the cable.I'm not exactly sure what is going on here, but the other three cables seem to work fine. Three cables at this price is pretty good. If I needed more, I might consider it, but I might look elsewhere for more expensive cables instead. I plan on using them when I travel as I can pack them easily into my bag.By the way, these arrived in all black. There isn't a white label as shown in the photo. It took about two weeks for them to arrive from China.If I figure out what is wrong with the other two, I'll change the review. Right now, I'm giving them 3 stars.

PLUGSThe micro-USP metal plugs are flimsy: they bend easily during normal use, making the cable unusable. The assumed use of retractable cables involves the ability to move the device while plugged in, and if the tips are easily broken or bent their purpose is defeated.RETRACTIONhe reel is easily jammed and you have to assist the retraction and sometimes try it a few times before both sides retract all the way.DATA SYNCI haven't tried data transfer on these cables, nor would I. Ever.NOT RECOMMENDEDIf you plan to use this product in your car, to have your phone easily moving about with the cable extending and retracting as needed -- look elsewhere. [Of course do not use your phone while driving!]BEST USEYou can relegate these cables to semi-stationary use, where their only advantage is their shortness, with the option of an occasional slow retraction. I have one of these attached to a portable speaker that rests in a position and is seldom moved. Another is sitting there for the occasional passengers who need to plug in their phones while riding with me.PRICEThis set of five cables is priced very low, and for the limited use and reliability they are acceptable, but only if you are planning limited use.CUSTOMER SERVICEThe only reason I am using them is because a return was impractical for the seller, who instead offered a 50% refund. The sellers are very nice and responsive.

First off, the product was great! They are a little on the not sturdy feeling side. I wouldn't call them flimsy but they are just a bit lightweight. However, they seem to be holding up well to constant use from my family.I love the retractable feature and they even lock so you can pull out a but of length and lock it in place. This means there is no tugging on the device you are charging.I give this 4 stars because it took ages to get here from china and the slightly less sturdy feel. Really, it should be more of a 4.5. They posted clearly how long it would take for it to get here and I failed to read it.I was a bit worried about ordering things from another country because once before (ages ago on another website) I order an item from china that didn't work and I paid hell to return it. Fortunately, all of the plugs worked perfectly.

Keep in mind these are cheap cables coming from China so if you're looking for OEM level quality then keep looking. However that being said, these cables are still a solid working set. The retraction gets jammed from time to time but takes nothing more than a quick pull to straighten out. The cables charge AND transmit data. When I got mine they were all in working condition! For the price they're a good deal if you don't mind slightly lower quality.
