To use CaliX you must remove the factory K-Cup cradle, same as you would to clean your machine. You DO NOT need to fill coffee to top of the grind basket! This restricts the flow process and also is not saving you any coffee. BEST ADVICE: 1 Use a regular K-Cup and let cool. 2 Carefully remove the aluminum seal. 3 Remove grinds, clean out and let dry. 4 Fill up K-Cup with your brand of grinds, keeping in mind that they are not packed to the top inside when they are new. 5 Dump into CaliX grind basket to gauge how much you need to fill it for a standard cup.------------ For more information on how to use please refer to our website XIRABREW dot com.------------ USE WITH - Keurig K-40- K-45- K-50- K-55- K-60- K-65- K-70- K-75- B-40- B-60- B-70- Cuisinart SS-700- Breville BKC700XL ------------ NOT FOR USE WITH - Keurig Office Pro or B-145- Any Commercial machines B-150 or B-155- Any Keurig MINI machines K-130- B-130- B-131- B-31 or K-10 MINI PLUS Any Keurig 2.0 machines Any Keurig VUE machines BUNN MCU Single Cup machines or Remington iCoffee Opus Machines ------------XIRA LLC IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH KEURIG, INC. Works as Advertised, Making Stronger Coffee But....
I've had this a little over a month and I've used it less than 10 times. I used it for several days in a row, but having to clean it after each use just became a hassle. I went back to using the Ekobrew. I tried this again a few more times and will probably continue to do so since I've already paid for it, but I find it lacks the convenience factor I want - the main reason for having a Keurig. If only the inner filter were available for purchase for about 1/3 the price, I could buy several to use. That would significantly up the convenience factor. It does make a stronger than average K-cup cup of coffee, but it's inconvenient to use for a couple of different reasons. One, you have to remove the entire K-Cup Holder, which, in case you didn't know, voids your warranty if you lose it. If you want to use an actual K-cup or K-cup type reusable filter after using this, you have to put the holder back in. In and out. In and out. It's annoying. Two, this is hard to clean, particularly those grounds at the bottom. You have to dig them out. I found this to be true whether I cleaned immediately after using or days later. The bottom grounds never dried out, so even days later I had to dig them out.In another review someone mentioned that the brewer seems to be working harder with this filter. In general, I found that not to be true as long as you're using coarsely ground coffee. A couple of weeks ago I tried a new brand of coffee. Although it was a store bought pre-gound coffee, the grind was slightly finer than the brands I usually use. I tried twice. Once with the new brand of coffee alone. And once a mix between the new and old coffee. Both times the machine worked and worked with very little water passing through till it auto shut off. New coffee alone, I got about 2 oz of coffee for a 10 oz serving. With the mix, I got about twice that at 4 oz.All in all, I would recommend this if you care most about taste. I would not if convenience is most important.

Coffee so good, it's worth the price and complications of use.
This makes the best coffee! It is a bit more complicated to use than the refillable k-cup insert I was using previously. The inner insert is very narrow, so it is difficult to pour the coffee in without some spillage. There are two level markers in the cup. I like using the lower one, but it is difficult to find and so I overfill the cup more than I would like. Also, the coffee should be brewed in small increments--4, 6, or 8 ounce, with following additions suggested at 4 ounces. The cup is not easy to empty of wet grounds, and it does drip after use, so I have a small bowl to catch the drips. I turn the Calix upside down in the small bowl and tap it sharply to make it easy to loosen. Without the bowl, some grounds would leak out when I tap the filter upside down All that being said, I prefer the coffee it makes to the other refillable k-cup I was using, and it is worth all the inconveniences of use. .

Worth every cent!
The CaliX Cup does what the maker says it will do. It causes the hot water to pass thru the coffee basket more slowly than normal, which in turn releases more bean oil into the mixture. In addition, since you are supplying the coffee grounds yourself, you get to pick and choose the flavors, as well as save some money in the process. For example, I used to use 8 teaspoons of grounds in my old coffeemaker. But with the CaliX Cup I use just 4-5. So I'm using approximately 45% less coffee to get the same result. And finally, I am not tossing any cold stale coffee down the drain at the end of the day, because with the CaliX I am brewing just one great cup of coffee at a time, straight into my favorite mug!My coffee machine is the Keurig K145 Office Pro model. It does not take the CaliX straight out of the box. A minor bit of hacking was required to get it to fit, but it was a simple operation that only took 5 minutes, and it still allows me to use the original Keurig fittings when I want to drink a special K-cup brew. All in all I see no reason not to try it out for yourself. 4 stars.

CaliX makes a strong coffee like a French press would but it's from a keurig
Delivery was quick! CaliX makes a strong coffee like a French press would but it's from a keurig. It pours out slowly from the machine and I would probably run it a few times though I selected the highest cup setting on the keurig and it was enough coffee for a small serving.Edit: After using it for a few weeks I would like to add that it really depends on the coffee you use. I bought a medium blend and the cup is not very good from the CaliX, tastes like it's burned. Though I've used a flavored dark blend and is pretty good. You will get some grounds in the cup but that doesn't bother me.

Not convenient and coffee not markedly better than a K-cup
I don't really regret buying this, but I don't use it because it isn't really convenient, and I don't think that the cup of coffee it makes is any better than the K-cups I've used. I originally saw it on TV like some of the other commenters did and I got it hoping to be able to save a little money on the cost of K-cup coffee.I agree with the others who suggested using a slightly more coarse grind of coffee with the Calix. I initially tried it with 2 tablespoons of the coffee I use with my Mr. Coffee coffee-maker. The pump on my Keurig sounded very strained and I was concerned that it would die on me(It also took longer than normal for the water to drip through). The cup of coffee didn't taste nothing special I didn't get the volume I thought I would get from the setting I used either. Next I tried using a coarser grind of coffee hoping that the water would be able to move through the coffee in the Calix more easily and not strain the Keurig motor. This time the motor did not sound strained and the time it took to brew the coffee was the same as with a regular K-cup but the resulting cup was on the weak side. When you dump out the grounds, not all of them come out. Some are packed on the bottom of the Calix basket and you have to dig them out.All in all not very convenient.Maybe some day I will try using it again and experiment a little more with it.
