Dorman905-101 Steering Column Shift Mechanism Compatible with Select Models

Not much to say really. It’s a quality Dorman part. I have a 96 gmc k2500, I had to replace the shift cable and at 225,460 miles figured this was a good time to do it all. The fit was great, after putting about 1000 miles on it, function is great also. Mine had a T30 torx I believe holding it on. When you try to remove the plastic on the bottom you’ll need to remove the tilt lever, it just pulls out with a firm tug. Took me a minute to get it also.

Perfect fit on my 95 Chev K1500 Z71, Had to adjust the Transmission cable underneath the truck after installation, but working great so far.

Great price. Honestly the only reason this doesn't get five stars is the OE shift handle needed to be filed down to fit and once it fit and screw was installed there was tiny amount of play in it. Also was a little tight til the unit was re-greased. Key release cable worked fine though.

Another good Dorman part. It fit, it worked.If you are reading reviews in order to get install advice, don't fear this part. Super easy install.

Everything about my product

This is the second one of this item purchased from DORMAN mftr. through Amazon. The first one lasted, about a year and a half, then broke leaving me stranded in middle of the road when leaving for work. Now, second proved to be faulty immediately after install, already a difficult chore in tight quarters, then when first levering from park to drive and back again the neoprene glide ball that rides in slot to move linkage through gears came part way off its mounting stem and wedged tight against the part's base bracket so vehicle could not go back into park... I had to "borrow" ball & stem part from old one and r&r. When the new one was off, I noticed the glide ball could easily be pulled with fingers completely off its knurled stem... made inChina, wadda you know - Chinese product with zero quality. This is why we need to stop buying junk Chinese parts/products...and here we are trusting our lives to this cheap foreign junk on our vehicles??? Get real DORMAN - GET AMERICAN MADE ONLY. I'll be visiting DORMANPRODUCTS.COM to give them a piece of my mind...we all must complain to suppliers concerning inferior quality imported parts such as these. AMAZON.COM was prompt in delivery and they can't be blamed for the shoddy part, but I decided not to return it because of urgency to get vehicle back up and running, can you imagine sending back, wait for replacement. another week plus gone... this incident made me really steamed.

It is very well built went on Easley all the holes lined up. Everything worked like it was supposed to would definitely purchase again if needed. Thank you, Mr. Pete.

Price is good.

2002 safari van perfect fit. No manual first gear, but that is a separate adjustment common to these vehicles (when in D first gear is ok). Needed to lube all parts of the shifter, since except for the ball, there was no lube on the notches and other parts. Construction is identical to the original GM shifter.

The packing was no exsistant. Opened up the bag that it came in and it fell right out of the box that it was in inside. Pieces were missing that was not known till the mechanic had it on the truck and trying it out. Ended up costing me an extra 500 in labor.
