Arteck Wireless Solar Keyboard Full Size Solar Recharging Keyboard for Computer/Desktop/PC/Laptop/Surface/Smart TV and Windows 10/8 / 7 / Vista/XP Built in Rechargeable Battery

I selected this keyboard after doing a bit of research. I already have a solar keyboard (a Logitech) on my Windows system, and I needed a keyboard for my Linux system. I was a little hesitant to buy because I did not see any definitive information that it would work with Linux. I've had it several days, and I can say with some authority, it definitely works correctly under Linux. The system in question is a Dell laptop running Peppermint Linux hosting a CentOS 8 VM. Most keyboards (with one notable exception) work on this system so I was hopeful it would work well, and it does. It behaves virtually identically to the Logitech keyboard and so far has given me no trouble. Build-wise, this is a solid keyboard that should hold up to some abuse. It is sturdy and does not flex when I am typing. I like the fact that the dongle is held to the back of the keyboard magnetically so it can be transported with less concern of being misplaced when not in use. One of the major issues I have with keyboards is that I have the hands of a gorilla and I frequently run into issues with hitting multiple keys at the same time, particularly with flat keyboards like this one. The keys are slightly bigger than average with this one, though, and hitting muliple keys simultaneously is less of a problem. This was an unexpected and welcome surprise. Aesthetically, I love the feel of this keyboard. Most of the keys are concave and feel pleasant to the touch. Oddly, a good number of the keys on the bottom row are actually convex. While this is no issue at all, I do find it puzzling. It is priced competitively against the Logitech too. If I could change anything I would include some kind of indicator of how much charge this keyboard has at any given time. So far I have not run out of power, but eventually I expect to have a situation where there has not been enough light to keep it at a full charge and it would be good to know how much power it has retained. I'm pleased with this keyboard. It works well under Linux and I don't need to replace batteries or plug it in. I really can't ask for much more than that.

I've been using this keyboard for nearly 7 years. I only bought a second one a year ago because I had to leave the original at my last job. It's thin profile allows me to type without my hands getting fatigued. I can move it out of the way easily when I need desk space. It's lightweight, which means it can go with me when I'm working remotely. It easily connects with my laptop via USB, I never have an issue with my keyboard not responding. I also love the number pad on the side.

This is my second Arteck keyboard - in fact, the same model but upgraded for 2022. What happened to the first you might ask? If it wasn't for a torrent of water being dropped on it unexpectedly, I would be typing this review on my old and very reliable Arteck 2020 model. I got the original model during the pandemic and was VERY PLEASED with it. The main selling point for me? It was solar powered which meant NO BATTERIES to have to replace. I was "in" on that alone. However, the good times kept coming when it worked REALLY WELL and VERY RELIABLY during a couple of office moves. It is claimed to be "ergonomic" and I'll just say, it's ergonomic enough for me. I really like the feel of the keys for a non-mechanical keyboard. I would say that Apple still rates best for feel, then Logitech then Arteck. Unfortunately, Logitech was somewhat pricey for the model I wanted and Arteck fit the bill perfectly for what I needed. You can't raise or lower the keyboard but for me, that wasn't necessary. The updated version for 2022 features more "alerts" via four lights in the middle of the keyboard. I love that about this keyboard. It's wireless AND you get caps lock alert plus num lock alert. I feel that's rare on a wireless keyboard these days. I am a very contented customer and will be buying more from Arteck. You can't go wrong with this model.

EDIT: update, the 2nd one lasted to July 2025, so around 3 years for the second one. Connection started giving out and wouldn't hold a charge. Time to move on. Cherry (KW9100) makes a nice and thin scissor key wireless keyboard I'm trying this time that has a similar, possibly even better, feel to it but it's not solar. This is still a nice keyboard if you accept that it's apparently good for only a very limited lifetime. I purchased my first of these keyboards in 2020 for $30. It lasted just over 2 years (purchased 6/9/2020 gave out 6/20/2022) before it quit and showed no signs of life, while I was typing. Not long for a keyboard, but for the price and convenience of never having a power issue, I didn't have a hard time deciding to buy it again. Even though this is kept in a dark room with only lamp light, the keyboard never needed dedicated charging. The new model ($27) is still extremely flat and low profile, keeping a good angle for wrists. The usb receiver is keyed to this one, so the old one goes in the trash with the old keyboard. The new one has the same excellent typing feel and keys. An added feature is a function lock (and indicator light), so you can lock in one button use of volume keys, at the expense of giving up F5 and other function keys (as function keys) until unlocked. Also there is now a battery life key and indicator life. Hit the button and the battery indicator flashes 1-4 times to indicate battery life, 4 flashes being full. There is now a usb-c connector as an alternate way of charging. The keyboard came fully charged, and since my old one never lost charge, I doubt there will be a chance to use it or to find out if the keyboard can function as wired when fully depleted. It's disappointing that the first one only lasted 2 years, but for cable management, wireless is the way to go and never having to charge or swap batteries makes it worth it. The upgrades are good to have. I'd rather have full time dedicated volume controls (preferably in the form of a roller), not operating as an alt function, but the function lock is a step in the right direction. I have other keyboards, including a Logitech mechanical, on another pc, as well as older wireless and wired keyboards. This is my favorite to date simply for convenience of wireless, solar and a clean wire-free desk surface. No battery issues (until the very end) and wireless response is just fine for every day use as well as gaming. I would rate it higher if it had dedicated volume control buttons/roller and if it had some programmable macro keys.

I first would like to commend the ARTECK company for making a fine solar powered keyboard with a backup charging function. I have used one I purchased back in 2023 that for years now has only required 2 backup charges due to my extensive typing work done at night. I returned to Amazon to purchase the same item again, but the information about the product I originally purchase was not the same. I corresponded with ARTECK over that issue and was assured of the specs in accord with the model number of the one I wanted to purchase again. The support team gave me a timely and thorough account of the product information, and I noted that Amazon updated the information on its webpage for the product. I purchased it and registered it. The technology and feel of this keyboard is superb and fitting form my work. From my experience, ARTECK is a fine company with fine products and a fine support team.

Well... I could go on and on about how awesome this keyboard is. It has a quality, heavy, durable feel. NO LAG time on typing. Works as advertised (i.e. I’ve NEVER had it “run out of power”). Even when I was gone for a month or two when I came back, the keyboard just worked. So sad I was when the “4” key got stuck one day (who knows why). Worked perfect… then the next day just “44444444444444” ALL over the place. :( Unusable. But this is where it gets good: I was still under warranty. I contacted Arteck support by email. Explained the problem honestly and clearly. Someone QUICKLY responded back. (When I say quickly...I mean it was either later that day or next day. Fast enough for me!) I included my Amazon purchase invoice proof showing date, price, etc. Right from the beginning they put me at ease: I was under warranty...it WOULD be taken care of. From there it was a few days of easy-going back and forth regarding logistics and what would be the easiest way for them to help me, make this right and get a working keyboard to me. So in the end...I GOT A FRESH NEW WORKING KEYBOARD that I am happily typing on to you RIGHT NOW. They say a product is only as good as its customer support… well I am glad I chose this keyboard. (Sure...I’d of preferred the “4” key just never got stuck in the first place...lol. But tech issues happen.) So still going with five stars cause they made it right quickly with NO hassle.

Super convenient and functional keyboard. Appreciate the simple design. Key bounce is pretty good and pre-built shortcuts are useful. Would be nice if it could light up, but it's solar powered, so understandable limitations. Battery life: So the first couple years of owning this were unbelievable. I maybe had to intentionally charge it in front of the window once or twice a YEAR, so ambient lighting (combination of natural and artificial) seemed to maintain the charge well. Note, I never turn the keyboard off. Fast-forward to about a month or so ago (so maybe 2ish years later), the battery only lasts for about a couple days then I have to place it in front of the window for a few hours. Pretty drastic degradation, but maybe I should have turned the keyboard off to fully recharge more often than I did. If I could, I'd rate it 4.5 considering the original price I paid (~$27).

Update: After writing the review below the manufacturer contacted me about my experience and offered me a new keyboard to ensure that my issue were not a result of a possible technical problem. For that alone, I raised my review a star. After receiving the new keyboard I ran through a series of tests. I have to be honest, I can't give this keyboard a five star review. It isn't that I think it is poor quality, or a bad product. I simply can not type quickly and accurate when using it and can't identify the problem. I don't believe there is anything technical wrong with this device and it is quite possible it is great for someone else. But for me, I get repeated errors that I don't on other devices and I routinely miss keys when playing games. Truthfully, I'd give it a 4.5 if I could. Thank you again to the manufacturer for reaching out and trying their best to make this a successful purchase. I will still continue to use this keyboard in hopes that over time I will get used to it and reduce the typing errors. If so, I will revise this review. Original Review: I ordered this product quickly as I needed a immediately replacement for the Logitech version of this keyboard. The product was less expensive, well packaged, and seems very well built. Everything about the keyboard appears to work as advertised. However, I am having a terrible time using the keyboard. I have several computers between my work, home, and mobile devices (this keyboard is located on my home PC). All of them use a keyboard of this same style. I have no issues typing on the others, but this one just gives me challenges. I have constant typographical errors using this keyboard and I can't identify if it is the physical layout of the keyboard or an actual issue with the electronics. I get lots of double letters with adjacent keys. For example you will become youo, her will become here, has will become hasa. If I type slowly and meticulously, I don't get the errors. But typing at any speed results in errors. I don't have this issue with other keyboards. Next, this definitely isn't a gaming keyboard. First, without the extra spacing between the F1 and ESC keys, and with the ESC being larger, it is very easy to hit that key by mistake. Second, the response time just isn't as responsive as most faster paced games require. I know this isn't a specifically gaming keyboard and will never be able to compete with a higher end, wired system, but the other branded keyboards I have used seem to handle it just fine. As for PROs, this keyboard looks good, is easy to clean, seems to have great battery life (solar), and connects perfects. Maybe my CONs are simply related to me and the way that I type, and shouldn't be a reflection of the product. Just my two cents.

While the keyboard works, and the solar power of it works, it doesn't work as well as the Logitech solar power keyboard I had before. Did he wear to self works fine but the keys are a funny shape and it's awkward to type on. Even after a year it doesn't feel natural to type on it feels cramped the keys don't feel like they pushed correctly And my typing mistakes have never been higher.It's an okay keyboard but there are definitely better I really just bought it for being a solar powered keyboard if I had to do it again I would have spent the extra cash and bought the Logitech. I had one of the Logitechs in the past it lasted me about 12 years till I spilled something on it,This one's a pain in the butt to use I'm considering just spilling something on it
