Fabulous peace of mind and convenience; included "gift bag" not as lovely as pictured
This product says it will keep your Christmas tree stand filled with water until the tree drinks most of a gallon of water. It works! I ordered this after my tree was up, so it wasn't as easy to set up as it would have been if I'd set it up the first day. But, I played with the system using a glass of water first to get a sense for it, and it's great! Then (with the help of an Amazon Answers responder) I set it up with my tree with the gallon jug about 3/4 full. I do have an "adjustable tilt" tree stand, so I have to elevate the jug a bit --- the siphon works so that the water in the tree stand is always level with the water in the jug, so if your tree stand's water reservoir is higher than the jug, then the jug won't empty completely (and your tree stand will dry up).I made a mark on my jug at the water line last night and could see that the water level had decreased overnight, so it's doing its job! This is great for my peace of mind -- it's wonderful being able to check the level in the tree by just looking at the jug, and it's so much easier to swap out the jug every 5 days or so than it is to climb under the tree and test/do the watering morning and night! My only criticism: the bag I received is no where near as attractive as the bag they show in the product's photograph. The bag they sent is probably a $0.50 bag, and it ripped the first day due to the size of the gallon jug, whereas the bag in the photograph probably costs a few dollars. I still give it 5 stars because the product itself is doing its job!

Kept My Tree Alive while i was gone for 6 days!
This is perfect solution for going out of town.NOTE: It is basically like a pre-packaged "DIY" kit but I didn't have any of these things just laying around and probably would have spent more $$$ and time trying to figure it out myself.I do not think the instructions were that easy to understand, though. There are several different attempts to describe the process (instruction papers in the package, list online, link to video), all which vary slightly, making it confusing which to follow. The setup is easy enough to get, but I was confused with how much water to put in.I ended up filling the jug halfway, testing it for a day (worked well) then risking it with 3/4 full while I was away.My tree sits low so I was concerned about the water levels "leveling out" (which it says someplaces) and overflowing.BUT, it didn't!And my tree lived! Thanks for the great product.

Empty the tree stand first, yes really!
OK, so I bought this and put it under the tree and totally flooded my living room - ha! RTFM! Lesson learned. I had a bit of a hard time following the instructions, so I wanted to post something. Because of SCIENCE, I wanted to test this thing out.Basically, in a nutshell - Do what the instructions say. EMPTY the tree holder thing first! Super important. As you can see by the photo. The water in your tree will balance to the water in the Jug - so Be sure that its level. In testing, I put a block of wood to raise up my water and emptied the jug and it re-balanced. So this is pretty cool.

Pretty cool
I like this thing. It comes with a shiny paper gift bag to for the jug of water to sit in. That’s fine although it if came with a hard plastic Christmas styled bag, that would be awesome because when I fill the jug, some drips of water run down the side of the jug and get on my floor. The bag I got was bright red. I wonder if a few drops that got under the bag, would it bleed and stain the wood floor? IDK? But I’m being really careful about that. I’ve had my tree 1.5 weeks and it’s working great! Soooo much easier than crawling under the tree, sticking my finger in to the stand to see if there’s water, getting poked with tree branches and then spilling water everywhere when I try to fill it. The only thing I don’t quite get is why the lid is solid? You can’t screw it on the milk jug. It just kind of flops around on top, but whatever, it’s still awesome.

Not as pretty as the picture. But it work.
I've had better watering system. But it does seem to work. the lids that were provided didn't fit the one gallon milk container that I have. So I just put the top on the best as I could along with the tube and it is working. I've checked the tree stand and it is being kept full. I've also had to refill the container once. So it is delivering water. The bag though... It works at hiding the container. But it's just a paper bag. It may last a season or two. However, I would think since this is going to be working side by side with water they would have opted for some other material. I hope the bag didn't cost a lot. If so I would have rather just received the tube to save a few bucks.

Why didn't I get this sooner?
I got this nifty item after Christmas because we were going away for a few days before we planned to take the tree down, and I didn't want our friend who was house-sitting to have to water it. Now I'm wondering why I didn't get this sooner to save myself the bother for all these years! If you read the instructions (complete with diagrams), you should have no problem. I set it up in minutes and it worked perfectly. I'm so glad I'll have this for next Christmas.

We had a large tree and it was awkward to get underneath to fill the treestand especially since it needed to be filled quite frequently. This watering system made our life much easier. All I had to do was check the jug and know whether my tree needed water or not. I needed it quickly so I paid the extra shipping fee and it was still worth the money.

Keeps tree hydrated
Product does work as described. The reason I gave 3 stars was only because I am not 100% sure it works 100% of the time. It is difficult to know how high you should have the bottle in order to fill the stand properly. Only had it for this one season so may increase rating after verifying it is reliable.
