Saddle up for a night full of Johnnie Taylor's greatest hits where he performs live in his hometown of Dallas, Texas, just three years before his death in 2000. He gave a captivated audience a night that they will never forget singing a string of soul, funk and disco hits including "Disco Lady; Who's Makin' Love; Ain't That Lovin' You" with Tasha Taylor, and more.

Great concert . . . puts you right there in the moment!
High quality, clear picture and sound. Just like being there, as they say. I never got a chance to attend a Johnny Taylor concert, but this is a satisfying substitute. His professionalism, interplay with the audience and overall control of the show . . . all are very entertaining. The cameramen appearing in some of the shots were a little disconcerting (pun intended), but that's a small price to pay for the first-class results of the angles and perspectives they showed: the video wouldn't have been as good if they were more discreet. I always wish stars would sing certain selections of their hits live, but they can't sing everything every time. I did enjoy the oldies (such as “Who’s Making Love” and “Disco Lady”), one or two from an album I have (Good Love’s “Last Two Dollars,” “Sending You a Kiss” and “Good Love”), plus some I hadn’t heard by him before, but enjoyed. That’s fine with me . . . I just wanted to see the man perform live. No complaints about the band intro. I’ve been at other soul singers’ performances in nightclubs, so I know it’s common for the band to play awhile before the main act comes onstage. It gives the players a chance to shine and show what they can do. Regulars know that the band is getting the crowd geared up for the headliner and stalling for time until the star is ready to come onstage. Watching them is interesting to this former musician. I've been a fan of Mr. Taylor’s music since the Stax days, and this video shows he still had “it" as he aged. His voice segued nicely over the years with a huskier maturity that added even more impact to the songs sung by this true "soul philosopher." I've had this DVD for several months, and I enjoy watching it.

Still EXCELLENT!! ALWAYS
I am a die hard Johnny Taylor Fan. My only reason for not giving it a 5 Star is because I think the Band played a little too long before he made his stage appearance. Still EXCELLENT!! ALWAYS, like No Other, he's JT ....

What a voice
Johnnie Taylor, JT. When Johnnie sang you could feel it, especially a ballad. Back in the day, in gospel music the Soul Stirres were considered the best Black gospel group of that time. JT as a teenager replaced the great Sam Cooke as lead singer. That says it all. The tragedy with JT as well as with Sam is they were gone to soon. Johnnie Taylor's album "Wall To Wall", listen to the song "I'm Changing". Singers such as JT let's us ordinary folks know what real singing is. RIP Johnnie Taylor.
