Good News Preaching: Offering the Gospel in Every Sermon

Concise and practical textbook for preaching
This is a concise and practical textbook for preaching. It is used at a couple of leading seminaries, as I know. This is only 130 pages book, but containing the thick theological thoughts of preaching as the proclamation of Good News, and practical guidelines for homiletical exegesis and craft of sermon. Although this book does not suggest a new sermonic form nor contain contemporary homiletical arguments about preaching, it has enough contents for new preachers to begin their preaching life. In addition, teachers of preaching may use the appendices to drill student's preaching at the classroom. In this sense, I strongly recommend this book for preachers and teachers of preaching.

Great help in deciding "Is it a sermon or is it a lecture?"
This thoughtful and thought-provoking book helps the new preacher determine the difference between a sermon and a lecture (hint: one of them offers good news) and provides models for different types of sermons - topical, biblical, personal - that are all grounded in the good news of God's grace. The resulting "good news" sermons aren't just happy talk: you can tell from the several sample sermons within the book that they contain challenges for both believer and pastor alike. The difference is these challenges are connected to really living the good news that Christians claim to believe. This book has something to offer both liberal and conservative pastors as well as their congregations.
