To say that I was surprised by this is a definite understatement. I was worried with the range of reviews that I might be getting a hit-or-miss sort of deal, but this went way above and beyond my expectations. I ended up plying with this for maybe an hour or so, just trying to find things for this to translate! I immediately downloaded all of the offline packages and they were installed in roughly 2-5 minutes, depending on the size of the language packs. Afterward, I was able to maneuver through this device and all the settings in a flash. I was able to translate photos and text from my PC screen, to street signs to booklets.The most impressive function to me, though, is the audio-recording translation, though it's a VERY close tie to the photo-translation tool. With the audio-recording translation, you are able to have someone speak in their native language and have it translated back to you. This is automatically saved in the device, too! So for instance, if you get lost and need directions to a store or back to your hotel and someone is able to assist you, you can record their directions and play them back in your language and follow along as you go on your journey.This may possibly be a fun novelty or possibly save someone's life to a farther extent of they are lost or confused in a foreign country. One of my biggest fears in travel is not knowing the language and getting lost, especially as it would be near impossible to ask for help. Definitely worth the expense and a must have for anyone traveling abroad.

My boss was planning for a trip to Europe to meet family and wanted a translator. I got this and we tried it a few times in the office. The translation was horrible. We had somebody in the office who spoke fluent Italian to try it. The translations were inaccurate and clunky. Ended up retuening it. My boss found somebody she knew in Europe to translate on her trip.The apps you can get on your phone for free are better than this.

It’s ok if people have time to wait to turn it on and then do the translation. You can do it off line but must have internet to use the photo option which we didn’t have in China. It was frustrating at most times. My phone google translate was better and easier to use. Had I know I wouldn’t have bought it. Also in order to get the language you have to down load before you go not while there.

I bought this one and it was working very well better than the other two I returnedthe other one was a different brand. But 4 days after I got it, it would not come on the screen lights up but that's it I'm returning it for a new one I will rewrite the review once I get the new one. the new translator arrived today and it is working fine as I said earlier this brand Translate more accurate then the previous brands that I've tried but now let's see how it hold out.

The media could not be loaded.  This little translator is an awesome device. It is very easy to use all you have to do is click the translate button and the language you want to translate to and from and it instantly translates speech for you. The other good and great function is the text translator we have to do is fix the camera on the text in the language you want to translate and press the button and it instantly translated it for you. This is a really handy and helpful device and I highly recommend it.

Instructions are not very good. I cant figure out how to get the touchscreen up or those 4 color blocks or settings. Though I did get it set up to translate English to Chinese, I couldn't get it set up on wifi or anything else. This looked very promising for me to use in China, at least to say the basics. The voice was tinny and hard to hear and the battery lasted about barely 1 or 2 hours. Frustrating and disappointing. The free Baidu app worked a lot better. I will return this. And you need something in Beijing, very few speak English.

I bought this with the intention of using it almost exclusively to talk without wifi.With wifi the translation between english and russian is almost flawless. But used offline the device can barely understand the words you speak and even less capable in translation. From 9/10 translation to 1/10, unusable.DO NOT BUY if you want to buy for offline use. I returned the product.

What a perfect invention for travelers. As my husband and I are getting closer to our golden years, we are traveling outside the country more often. We recently went to Japan and this little wonderful device saved us multiple times. It will be forever packed wherever we go. Thank you for a great device at an amazing price WITH super fast shipping! If you want a translator THIS IS THE ONE. Can take pictures and translate as well, was a great feature for ruins, and restaurant menus.
