series is finally picking up
I thought the first two books in the series were okay however some of the detail felt really repetitive but finally all the detail we have gotten on the VLG world is paying off and the action starts very quickly in this book, being introduced to Lorn and Kira. This book brings everything I love about Laurann Dohner books, wonderful alpha male with great emotion and softness that just makes you want to wrap him up in your arms, wonderful chemistry and an immersing storyline. Not only is this a beautiful love story but it progresses the overarching storyline of the VLG nicely, so much so that I am anticipating the next story so much. Due to the overarching storyline I don’t recommend starting with this story, you really do need to progress through the first two novels (even with their drawbacks) but I was not disappointed in this story as the next chapter in the VLG world and I suspect I am well on my way to another book obsession.

Love this series
I thought your New Species Series was hot. But now that I've started reading (and listening) to this series I'm torn.I'm enjoying the mixing of the various paranormals. I want to see more of the gargoyles. Of course, like any of your books it has strife, suspense, fighting a d really steamy sex. The development of the characters is just enough but not dragging. And the way you also let your readers get to know supporting characters is perfect. I keep thinking about who you will choose for the next book.I want you to know how much it means to me for you to have the low price for the audio file. So many audio file are over $15 and that's on top of the book price.I recomend this book highly. I read and listening to it in one night. Now on to the next one. Keep writing and I'll be looking for each New book!

IT WAS GOOD BUT NOT GREAT!!
Lorn was not LD's best story in the VLG series in my opinion. The banter between Lorn and Kira was repetitive. They kept repeating over and over why they couldn't be together and what happen when they were children. Kira was born of a human mother, her father Davis was VampLycan. Kira had more human traits the VampLycan ones. She wasn't excepted into there clan and was horribly mistreated by the other children and adults. Lorn befriended her at a young age and they grew up together. Lorn protected and defended Kira from all those who would harm her. This is said over and over in many ways and by just about all the characters. I got it the first time. The story does pick up until midway through. The fight scene with Lorn and the elders for clan leadership was exciting. Especially with his brother fighting with him and some of the other VampLycans Kar Garson who believed Lorn should be there new clan leader. The scene with Kira beating the crap out of Brista the clan childcare giver was really good. Brista had tormented Kira when she was a child. I don't really like violence but these were the most exciting scenes in the story.I also think I would have like the story more if Kira was a virgin and had not given her virginity to a human when she left the clan to go to school. I am old, so I still like to believe some young girls save themselves for the person they love. I understand why LD wrote Kira this way but for me it would have been better left out of the story. It would have been better if Lorn and her had gotten together somehow before she left for school. The swimming incident comes to mind when Lorn realize Kira is at mating age and she is no longer a child. That would have been perfect. LD never writes virgins in her stories. I think she should. The other problem I had was the abrupt ending. It felt rushed or maybe to lead us into bk4. The romance between Lorn and Kira was luke warm. It was mostly about what could have been rather then what it is now. On the Whole the story is OK.

The people of the clan hated her before
Lorn has watched over the people of his clan especially Kira, who was born just a human. His leader is on the run for his life and there has been people of other clans asking that Lorn challenge to take over the clan. As Kira decides it's time for her to leave while the tyrant who ran the clan before is out of the picture, but unfortunately she is attacked and it's up to Lorn to save her if he can. The people of the clan hated her before, but now it will be even worse for Kira. Lorn has to take charge and decide what to do thats best for the people of his clan and for Kira. What's best for him he knows is Kira, but she may not be able to be saved. What will Lorn do for the love of his life? This is how I would describe the book. I was so involved in this book that my emotions were up and down with the way it went with the book. It was a fantastic third book in the VLG series by Laurann Dohner. She knows how to get people engrossed in the books she writes and this book had me so I couldn't stand putting the book down. I wanted to read each word and see how things would turn out for Lorn, Kira and his people. When you read a VLG book you are transported to the place this takes place and then the book grabs hold and won't let you go. It's a wonderful addition to VLG series. If you haven't read this new series of Laurann Dohner before, you might want to get her first two books to read as well. This is turning into a series I love and can't get enough of. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Judy King

It's that good.
I love Laurann's work-let's put that right out there. I've read everything that I could find that's been published, and I'll continue to purchase her books going forward. Fans of Laurann seem to develop a preference for her series-New Species, the Cyborgs, Mating Heat, whichever calls to them most-I seem to be the exception, I love all of them.Lorn is another winner-the complexity of the characters, the world that's been built in the first two books allows for even more character development in this episode. There's romance, angst, and an overarching storyline that draws from the first two books and sets the tone for the next installment. It's a full sized novel, so there is plenty of time to fill in the characters backgrounds, the present they live in, and to portray the future they'll have after the novel is over. You can almost picture the town they live in, smell the pines in the woods, feel the frigid waters of Alaska. It's that good.

Amazing series!
Another fabulous story in the VLG series. I love this author and she always delivers a great story with great characters. I also download the audible versions and they are amazing! Now onto the next book in the series but so badly want to read Aveoth’s story as he seems an amazing character from the little snippets we get in the books.

Utterly Fantastic Story
One of the best story line I've read in a long time. Many twists and turns. Highly recommended for adults readers. When I read the first book I was hooked wanting to know what happens to the clans. I wasn't disappointed Lorn is a fantastic clan leader, ultimately fighting scenes. Plenty Claws , Blood and Gore. This series seems to get better and better as the story continued.AMAZING!

Lorn(VLG Series 3)
Nice to see Lorn finally get the girl he loved with the bonus of her being his true mate, even though it didn't seem like she was going to survive the attack and the develop the way she did. The changes in the pack hierarchy was good too. These books are good as stand alone books but make better sense read in order and are turning into a fantastic series

Love this series
A lovely story. Lorn and Kira suffer a lot of trials. Can't wait to find out what lies in wait for Avioth and whether Veso survives.

Great story
Really well written, and the storyline had me hooked and unable to put the book down. I liked this book much more than book 1 and 2, which are also great books.
