Whisper Lake is a beautiful,, serene and healing Colorado location. Gianna and Zach met at a summer camp there 15 years ago and formed a bond. Secrets, misunderstandings and fear divided them. Both have myriad issues they must face and address, but together they seem more than able to succeed. This is a beautiful second chance love story with two strong, determined yet imperfect heroes that encourage you to cheer for them throughout their story. Can't wait for the stories of Whisper Lake to continue.

I was captivated by the love of two teens then they were torn apart for years...when they meet again the love was still there....it is a gripping relationship that bonded them....it is well worth the time spent in reading this book...it holds the readers interest from page one to the conclusion.

There was a “who done it,” cleverly disguised. I kind of missed all the action. As always, I know I will fall in love with the characters and story even more. Getting to know the new group was good. I really wanted to know much more. Can’t wait for the next book.

Always With Me: Book 1 Whisper Lake is by Barbara Freethy. This wonderful book begins her new series about Witness Lake. This is a very promising series if this book in the first one in the series. This takes the Callaways and the Coles to a completely different place. Hunter Callaway is renovating a camp there and beginning his new life running a summer camp. He is relying on his friend Zach Barrington to draw up the architectural plans for the camp and then to help him run the camp for a little while. This fits right into Zach's plans. His friend, Rachel had died in a fire leaving him with her four- year-old daughter. Rachel's parents had taken Hailey to live with them and refused to allow Zach to even visit. He is staying here until he gets some arrangement made with them.Gianna Campbell has returned to Whisper Lake to help her Aunt Liz run her antique store. Aunt Liz broke her leg and cannot work so Gianna is doing it for her. She had quit her job in the city and had broken her third engagement to return home. However, since she loved art, she loved working with her aunt's antiques too.It was inevitable that Zach and Gianna would run into each other again. He finally gets the evidence he needed to fulfill Rebecca's request, and the truth behind Rebecca's tortured psyche, her mother,Helen, and her brother, Uncle Will' s abuse of her. The Carvers are now reeling with not only Rebecca's death, but now see Helen as the cause and not Zach. The trio, Zach, Gianni, and Hailey, may have a future after all. Chloe and Kevin's story provided a sub-plot about the stresses military families have to bear, while their loved ones serve and protect their country.Great characters, and the novel's theme about second chances and rekindled love goes hand in hand. This is another totally enjoyable Freethy read. The characters are easy to care about and to root for them to find love. I felt that the plot had some weak spots. Ms. Freethy can write excellent suspense , and this novel contains this element, but I feel too much time is spent on sex - especially for a main character who has broken off 3 engagements. There are unanswered questions like why her first fiance is still intent on harassing her. Still, the book is a very entertaining read.

What a wonderful start to a new series. Loved Zach and Breanne together. Lots of great new characters and enjoyed seeing old ones too. Looking forward to the next in the series. Keep writing and I’ll keep reading 😍

I enjoyed the read. There were several interesting threads and very good characters, so I'm thinking there are several stories to tell in this series, and it'll be a good one, if all are as good as the first. The friends helping each other out was sweet, and the old boyfriend's love for the daughter of his deceased lover. I'm interested in continuing to read about the characters in this series, and being a part of the camp coming to life as well. Loved the characters.
