CYP AU-D3-192 audio converter Black

Digital To Analogue Converter
I've bought one of these before as the current range of Samsung TVs do not have a separate Analogue out socket other than the headphone socket which mutes the sound. The first one I bought does the job very well and I can listen to the TV on my wireless headphones without turning off the sound for the rest of the family and can conversely turn the TV volume off so as not to disturb them. However, with this one the optical lead does not fit firmly into the socket and occasionally slips out. Also the sound from the left speaker socket occasionally switches of for a short while before returning. Other than that a great product and would recommend.

Works perfectly but make sure phonos leads are slim
I bought this to play audio through my Sonos as that only has analogue inputs and the Panasonic TV only digital optical out. It is very easy to set up, you only need to add a set of phono leads. I bought the recommended phono leads mentioned on this listing but that was bad advice as they are quite chunky and so bend the inputs on the DAC a bit. I used another pair in the end to avoid stressing the connection. Also note this comes with a small psu so you need to have a spare socket. I did not think that was very clear from either the listing or the manufacturers web site. Works great though so happy overall!

Does the job. Would have been 5 stars, however the coax and optical inputs are very close together and put pressure on the joints when both cables/inputs are being used. My set up is Sky HD 2TB box (optical cable) and Samsung BluRay player (coax cable) feeding through this unit into 2.1 stereo on a NAIM pre-amp. This unit finally eradicated the sound delay between Sky TV using an external hi-fi unit and the TV sound.

Excellent thing
I use it connect the optical audio output of an Apple TV to my hi-fi system. It works perfectly.I also have a Lindy converter which is almost identical except white rather than black. The CYP version is slightly better value especially since it comes with a free Toslink cable.Just what I needed.

Does the job brilliantly
Same problem as many - new telly, old amp. No stereo out on the telly, no digital in on the amp. This tiny wee box takes the digital input in, spits out the stereo output, and sounds good into the bargain. Can't say fairer than that. The only thing that could improve it would be if it didn't need yet another plug, but that would be witchcraft as I don't think a battery powered DAC would be much use in the home.

Superb DAC
Very impressed with the performance, taking HD Audio from the TV and playing through an analogue IP Hi Fi system!

Excellent product
I bought this device to hook a Sharp Soundbar up to my LG TV, which has an optical sound outlet. It works perfectly and I'm delighted with the quality of the sound. It might be worth including a note to the effect that the rubber bobbles on the ends of the optical cable are just protectors and must be removed before use. It's not obvious. The cable won't fit the sockets unless you do this. That said, I'm happy to recommend this product and supplier.
